Hair HELP! Please I\'m so frustrated...

I just found a really good hairstylist who knows what she is doing and gave me a steam treatment w/ some high lights (natural haircolor-no ammonia or bleach), and I've been getting good growth. The bad news is I didn't get a trimm at supercuts in Aug. and tried to do it myself which didn't work because although I practically got 2" of growth (Sept, Oct) I had splits 1.5" up and that's what I had to get cut off ooo /images/graemlins/mad.gif
Now my hair is well just about where it was when I reached top-BS in late July and I could have been at lower BS by now.
Well ladies what should I do, should I up my vitamins, stop straightening alltogether ( I only do it to get trimms), I'm at a loss?

Well first, take a deep breath. Okay. I would keep doing what your doing in terms of the vitamins. Don't up the amount you take yet. Don't straighten for a while. Baby your ends for the winter months. Oil them and protect them from the air as much as you can. In a few weeks look at your hair and see if you can tell a diffrence, if not then you may want to increase you EFA's and B-complex vitamins.

I agree with AuntyBe - and also wanted to add - I don't think straightening (with heat right?) could ravage your ends if you are only doing it once every few months.....

Is there anything in your daily styling routine that could contribute to the splits? Also would you be adverse to a Cellophane (Sebastian Colorshines) I find they really help keep my ends nice and healthy by creating a semi-permanent barrier between my ends - well - everything.

I rarely have splits and my ends are colored, relaxed AND bleached in places! /images/graemlins/ooo.gif

Re: Hair HELP! Please I\'m so frustrated...

Thanks for the suggestions Auntybe and Tracy.

Tracy- I braided my hair like I always do, the only things I can think of is that I prob didn't cut the splits and my ends went into the braids (sown in weave) and split a little more, maybe got some from detangling my hair but I always use a conditioner, or I left it in too long b/c my hair is growing faster. I blow-dry/flat iron my hair, not often.

Honestly this hasn't happened to me since I've been on top of my haircare regime. I'm going to leave my hair out for 2 weeks and take x-tra care of it, moisterizing, conditioning, etc. The ends of my hair look very thick and healthy after the cut. I'm just a little worried about this development.

I'd like to know more about the Sebastien thing, If it can help me I'm soo there. I saw someone's post on it and was thinking about it, can I do it myself, should I do it myself, how long does it last, and what are the benefits?
Thanks in advance, all suggestions appreciated. /images/graemlins/smile.gif

Re: Hair HELP! Please I\'m so frustrated...

Hi Lucia,

I know it can be frustrating at times /images/graemlins/mad.gif but keep doing what you are doing. I think it helps to protect those ends and clip them before they split. I have been just clipping a little every two weeks. I'm not cutting, just clipping where you see about 6 little hairs falling.

Re: Hair HELP! Please I\'m so frustrated...

Lucia,

The benefits are great shine and sealed ends. Also the PH of rinses are about 2.5 which makes them acidifying - sealing the cuticle which also helps protect the shaft of the hair (which becomes ends) and the ends. It will last between 4-6 weeks in my experience depending on how much you shampoo. I shampoo alot (sometimes daily /images/graemlins/ooo.gif) and it lasts me roughly 4 weeks.

Hi Tracy,

Thanks for that info. I seem to learn something new everyday on this board. /images/graemlins/grin.gif

Thanks everyone for the encouragement, I needed it. I'm going to look into the cellophane ingredients, but it sounds like a good boost for the ends.
keep on growing
