I have been looking for an organic hair oil that promotes growth. The Vatika oil I am crazy about is great for moisture and root strength (henna and amla), but I wanted a more fragrant oil for my scalp massages.
There has been lots of talk about hair growth oils lately since Sherrylove shared her oil recipe and BlkMane shared those awesome articles about the people with alopecia. I just wanted to share two ideas with you ladies.
Pretty Natural, INC makes a good comprehensive oil for all those who don't want to find and mix things. It has Jojoba, Olive Oil, Castor Oil, Vitamin E, Rosemary Extract, Essential Oils of Rosemary, Lavender, Sage, and Chamomile all in one little jar. They are based in Newport News, Virginia which is one town over from Hampton so I can walk into most health stores and buy their products. But they have a web page you can order from. They are a very tiny company, but they are Black owned and make products that are geared towards women of color. The stuff is a bit expensive but extremely potent. I think I'm going to start mixing mine in almond oil.
The other oil is by Better Botanicals, which is more on the ayurvedic side. They don't have the ingredients on the website, but I have read the bottle in the stores. It has almost all of the popular Indian herbal remedies for hair loss, thin hair, etc.
Just a suggestion for all the lazy gals who want everything without doing anything. I hear ya! Long live internet ordering! /images/graemlins/tongue.gif
