Is there a connection between the two things? Do people with fast metabolisms have fast growing hair?

Usually people with faster metabolisms can eat whatever and maintain their ideal weight. People with slower metabolisms slowly pack on lbs despite their best efforts (counting calories, exercise) or their weight fluctuates like a yoyo.

What are your thoughts?

I think I have an average metabolism. I know I eat way too many calories, but somehowy weight has been the same for a year. I am over my ideal weight, because I do give in to cravings and overindulge sometimes. Ok daily

My hair seems to grow between 1/4 inch and 1/3 inch per month consistently. I am going to start drinking 8 cups of water daily and eating more veggies in hopes that I can boost my metabolism and my growth rate :yep:

I have since seen that I have an average growth rate of 1/2 inch. I know it could be better if I stop drinking coffee daily and get more protein in. We should try to see if we see good results by the end of the year! Exercise will boost blood flow too! I'm working out tomorrow. My metabolism is fast when I am active. Since I have gotten older and had babies, can pack the pounds on if I'm not careful. I just refuse to be overweight heading into my forties. Long hair and a fit body is what I am aiming for. My longest length has been bsl with in 3 years and I trim a lot. I'm working on getting my over processed hair back on track.

Ooh I can't let go of coffee. It's my one true love  I love how it curbs my appetite and gives me a steady flow of energy.

I noticed that after I had my second son and started eating more protein my hair grew super fast. My longest length was mbl when I was relaxed. This is my third year natural and I am closing in on bsl. I wish there was a short term health and hair challenge that I could stick too.

Special K has protein drinks with caffeine in them. I got the vanilla cappuccino ones. I got plenty of energy from that so far. It tastes pretty good. Got them from Walmart.

I think it's consuming nutrient denese food and exercising is the way to go.

Also I'm doind a 30 day colon cleanse right now and your colon can store 8 meals!!!

A slow or full colon affects the vitamins and nutrients your body can absorb.

You need to void 2x three times a day.

So do you have a fast, average or slow metabolism? Does your hair grow faster than average, average or slower? I read an article recently that implied that faster metabolism = faster hair growth.

My hair grows averages speed (1/2 inch month), my metabolism is average too. I have experience a faster metabolism (during times I was extraordinarily active) but didn't notice its effect on my hair growth. It would be interesting to know.

I have a average metabolism one but I grow almost a inch per month, because of working out and what I eat.

You go girl!! So it seems like if you put in the work it is possible to change your growth rate/metabolism. Thanks for the tips.

I'm not sure about the type of metabolism my house but I know from experience that my hair grows relatively quickly and I've been the same weight for a very long time. Between the beginning of August and the 13th of October I gained about 3 inches of growth. I've been 146 for five years. Then again my eating patterns are not very stable some days I want to eat the house down other days I'll have a cracker and maybe some cheese and that's it.
To be fair I usually don't see 3 inches I think the most I've seen between a month is about 2 inches. Being more consistent with my vitamins might have helped. I'm anemic by the way.

I have a super fast metabolism (I'm 110lbs with 4 kids:) my hair only grows on Christmas:(

I hear you. I have a fast metabolism. I usually hover at around 97 lbs. Third on the way. I average about 1/4 inchesof hair growth per month.

I don't think there's a connection between metabolism and hair growth but I definitely believe with the right hair practices, eating protein rich foods, exercising, you may be able to increase your growth rate.

My best friend growing up struggled with her weight but her hair grew fast and she had good retention. I had a fast metabolism but my hair was shoulder-length and seemed to grow slow. Then again, her mom would braid her hair and leave it like that for weeks and I was getting mine pressed more often. So you should consider your hair care regimen too.
