Hair grades?! I'm tired of looking...where ARE THEY?

ok...frustration has set in...i've been hours looking for the HAIR GRADE CHART!!! I've been in the FAQ..all over EACH forum...in and out of the stickies.
3c...4a...2b.....WTF?????
Can somebody help me out?!

Girl, forget all that 3a 4b junk. When I want to give my hair type, I simply explain that I have Rudy Huxtable hair. Then no one is confused.

That is the most simple explanation I can give.

as far as referring to it as a grade...
these aren't eggs, none are better than the other. and with that in mind, why does it matter? all you need to know is if its curly or straight or thick or thin or who it looks like, then we have an idea i guess. especially since some folks are getting disappointed when they find out theyre actually a 4a instead of a 3c or a 3a instead of a 2b... as if they got the short end of the stick. not to mention the folks who think theyre both 4b when one has thin hair with coarse strands and the other has thick hair with fine strands... and so on and so forth. its just to complicating and not even completely reliable, so why use it? just say who your hair looks like:

for example--- I am starting to think i have some scary spice hair, but i wont know until i chop next year

I totally agree with you! I can't explain my hair grade and it doesn't even fit on the chart!

Looking at alot of these hair charts can make your head spin

I felt that way too when I was relaxed. It didn't matter for me until I was natural. Its very helpful for me to check out people's hair that looks similar to mine so I can see what products, techniques, styles, etc they're using. Also, it gives me an idea of how my hair will look as it gets longer because I really have no clue.

what would you suggest to differentiate the tightness of the curl?
