Does anyone else have this problem? I don't know what could be causing it. Here's my regi....
Relax every 12-24 weeks with mizani
Cowash just about every night with Joico mosture recovery( I work out everyday and I hate sweaty hair)
Wash with Joico moisture recovery shampoo once a week
Deep condition with elasta qp dpr11 twice a week
Joico K-pak about once a month
Prepoo with amla oil, evoo, or evco once a week
Flat iron every 12-24 after relaxer
I wear buns 99% of the time
I have checked for split ends, I don't have problems with breakage and my hair appears to be very healthy. Please tell me what you guys think.

i'm not having this issue so it's hard for me to imagine... your reggie seems fine..low heat... how's your manipulation? are u taking any supplements, especially b vitamins? which are suppose to help with thickness

The only supplement I take is a multivitamin everyday. I guess you could say that I manipulate my hair alot because i cowash every night

I was having this problem which is one reason I stopped relaxing. My stylist told me that for some hair types as you continue to relax over time, even if the hair is growing longer, it will just start thinning out. For my situation she said that relaxers were too strong for my hair and that's why it was happening with me. I was getting them at around 13 weeks, and I was getting the proper care with protein and moisture.

Hey Girl!

It sounds like your hair really loves moisture (hence all the moisturizing products). I know that you use Joico Kpak (Protein) once a month. However, it sounds like you might need to up your protein. If you don't want to use it daily or in your conditioners/oils. You might want to try a Hardcore Protein Treatment (Aphogee Two Step or Nexus Emergency), which lasts every 6 weeks OR use a protein shampoo followed by a moisturizing conditioner/or deep conditioner.

I swear by the use of protein products. :yep: I believe it has helped me to maintain, strengthen, and thicken my ends. I personally use Aphogee Two Step religiously every six weeks. CLICK TO WATCH ME!

Oh.... remember to up your protein intake in your diet as well.

HHG!!!!

just wondering..after your conditioner washed everyday..do you comb your hair..? could be too much combing too..

Thanks for all of your replies. Here is a pic so you can see what I am talking about.

I found that when I was co-washing regularly my hair was thinning at the ends so I had to put a quick end to that. Now I don't have that problem anymore.

Your ends don't look too thin. Have you tried castor oil? Its used for growing and thickness, maybe you should try it. Do you use any direct heat? Also do you dust your ends in between trims? Air drying helps with thickness too. Thats good you wear your buns. Make sure you keep them ends sealed with moisture and oil.

Wow..thanks for the info. I never thought cowashing could be the problem. My hair loved cowashing when it was shorter.

Tbh, I'm not really seeing the issue. I was really expecting to see something else. Many women grow their hair out in a V or U shape. It just means that some areas are growing quicker than others and/or they have layers. Unless your ends are clearly very see through, damaged and breaking, I think you should wait until a little past your goal and then cut back to it. Every couple of months, you could keep getting it cut back to goal to maintain the look of thicker ends.

With that said you could try what people have suggested if you really think the issue isn't how your hair is naturally growing in.

HTH.

I am not seeing the issue with your ends either. However, dusting is good and you will have health & lenght. I just had to see your ends to get an idea. IMHO it does not even look thinned out. JMHO.

for me, i have literally cut off all my pre-lhcf hair. it was just damaged and could not stand the test of time. now with a completely new head of relaxed hair, my hair is crazy thick, root to ends.

This may be drastic for some but it has worked for me. I only focus on length retention now and it is growing happily by itself.

My theory isn't very popular but I believe dusting regularly is the secret to keeping your ends full. I get lazy sometimes and my ends always start to look ruggedy and thin. But as long as I keep snipping the ends every now and then (I don't even look for splits. I think of this as prevention rather than cure), my ends remain nice and full. I apologize for those I've bored with these pics but here's a demo of the difference regularly dusting makes:

A few months later after not dusting since July 2003 when I learned from some LHCFers that trimming was unnecessary, I paid for that coz my hair thinned so much:

Holding onto those miserable ends led to having to chop off a huge chunk just to get my hair to feel right:

Wanakee believed in it. Brenda (www.blackwomenrejoice.com) believed in it. And their hair looked full and healthy. I say try it and see if you won't be happier with your hair.

When you say you don't see split ends, that doesn't mean the split didn't already rip down part of the length of your hair leaving the illusion of an unsplit end--otherwise how else can you explain the thinning unless you are losing hair? That's why I find search and destroy futile. I just adopt the same attitude as that of working out to stay fit and healthy, instead of waiting till you're fat or unhealthy to start fixing the problem. Prevention, not cure.

It's happening to me too but that's because I had braid extensions as a PS and it made my ends thin

Hopefully after a few months my ends should look better

Thanks for the article jas
It could be the elements or lack of moisture
