What type of deep conditioner would help prevent my hair from falling out--when I touch it in the back, I get a tiny strand or two on my fingers?

My hair was damaged using so-called "mild" products: Bodiphier (used heat to get my hair straighter), and Wella Midway Color (demipermanent color)

Try using Jherri Rhedding 100% protein Conditioner. It doesnt get any stronger than this. Just dont use it too often. I like to follow up with moist by aussie. If you want a less expensive pure protein treatment try Ultra Sheens Protein Conditioner.

Ms M, Sweet Coca and Londondiva:

Thank you all. I could not find Jherri Redding at Sally's. I tried Motions CPR plus Salerm 21 (a leave-in my hairdresser recommended), plus a "potion" my friend uses, and this all seemed to reduce the breakage. Thank you for helping me thru this hair disaster that has me heartbroken (my hair was past my shoulders & heading down my back just 1-2 months ago, now just at neckline, but thanks to ALL OF YOUR HELP I think its on its way to recovery!

Girl, I'm glad to be of some assistance. Anytime you need a lil help PM me or ask the ladies on the board. That's what we are here for. /images/graemlins/angel.gif

THANK YOU LONDONDIVA--IT LOOKS LIKE THE APHOGEE DEEP CONDITIONER HAS REALLY HELPED -- almost zero breakage since I tried it yesterday....

You don't know how happy I really am for you. I know the feeling when you think you've taken 10 steps back when you get breakage. Remember to use this about once every 6 weeks. It's strong stuff girl.

Oh Girl You Know It - the breakage set me back, waaay back! Glad you told me about the 6-week thing--I thought I was supposed to USE the Aphogee treatment WEEKLY for six weeks! LOL!

I thought exactly the SAME thing. When I first got it I had to come on here and ask the ladies if it was to be used every week for 6 weeks. The instructions are not clear at all.

Re: HAIR FALLING OUT-HELP! (Problem Solved!)

Remember a couple of months ago my hair was falling out to the touch? I am happy to report that the problem has been resolved thanks to the assistance I received from this board. (Londondiva thank you for your input on this)

I'm posting what I did here, in the event it will help someone else.

What finally worked were the following:

1. Two Aphogee treatments, spaced 6 weeks apart
2. Shampoo, twice a week with a NON-MOISTURIZING shampoo (I used ION Anti-Frizz Smoothing Shampoo and bi-weekly ION Clarifying shampoo -- my stylist said I needed this to strengthen my baby-fine hair)
3. I found my hair was still breaking in-between Aphogee treatments (and you can only do Aphogee once every 6 weeks)SO each week in between Aphogees I alternated DRC-28 and Motions CPR. After ALL protein treatments I followed up with a moisturizing conditioner.
4. THEN I did a 3-minute carrott oil hot-oil treatment 2x per week (I used Proclaim).

Then proceeded with normal maintenance & kept hair in a bun for 6-8 weeks.

Now I'm happy to report that my hair is stronger & no longer breaking to the touch. I hope this helps someone else.

Supergirl, Beana, Allandra, Pebbles, Sweetcoca and Adrienne -- thanks for your well-wishes and support!

I'm happy to hear that your hair is well on its way to recovery /images/graemlins/smile.gif My hair has fallen out 2x's which had left me bald-headed. This was due to misuse of relaxers and permanent haircolor. Now that I'm natural, using henna and other helpful products, I haven't experienced falling hair. I wish I had had access to the wonderful info these ladies have given you. It would have made a world of difference for me back then.

DITTO! I've lost & re-grown so much hair that I'd prolly have hair down to my fanny by now had I encountered this board sooner! LOL!
