Hey everyone,
I live in the dorms and want a hood dryer but need to figure out to which one to get and how to use it in such a small space. Could I sit the hood dryer on the bed while i sit on the floor?
Any suggestions?
thanks

I put mine on my ironing board. I use a chair and since the ironing board can go up or down then it works great for the height you need because it can be adjusted. I sit right in front of the tv with the dryer on the ironing board and sit in my chair and enjoy my show. My husband laughs at me and he says "So you about to get in your spaceship again"

Put the hood dryer on the desk, and sit in a low chair. The dryer I'd borrow from my roommate had a neck about 1.5 feet long, and that was enough.

When I was in college, I found that the soft bonnet hair dryer worked wonders for me. I was still able to deep condition and dry my hair and didnt have to worry about space. All I needed was a blow dryer.

I have a carel soft bonnet that I bought at Sally's. I have never "fully" dried my hair with it so I can't answer that question.

Takes me 2 hours to dry under my bonnet dryer and my hair is not long. Takes less than half the time under a hard hat dryer.

I also do the desk and chair deal. I used a bard bonnet all through college so I know what you mean about the space. But it should be fine.

Watch those soft bonnets. I bought one recently and was extremely disappointed. Not only did it take 3 hours to dry my hair, but it didn't dry as smoothly and when I used a hard bonnet. Never again.

I have a Golden Hot hooded dryer that I bought on sale for $29 at the local Sally's & it sits under my desk without any problem and without taking up any space. Hey, you can even take it on a trip if you want to because its portable.

I put mine on my desk too and it has been working out. I bought a soft bonnet before I got my hooded dryer and ended up returning it because the flow of air wasn't that powerful. I think if I ever get a soft bonnet, I am going to buy the bonnet and put it on the regular dryer and see how that works out. But for now I am content with my hooded dryer because I can also do my aphogee treatments under it.

thanks everyone for the advice.

Tracy, I was thinking the same thing about the soft bonnets. I'll prob. get the hot tools ionic hood dryer you have. How is that one working for you? how long did it take you to dry with this one?

thanks

it's a good enough dryer and space wise it's slimmer than the normal ones and WAY less heavy. But I still don't see why it's $10 more expensive than the other ones. I think this ion stuff in hood dryer land may just be hype. I'll keep you posted.

I would have bought it anyway tho because its really light. I just don't know if I would have done it so easily if I didn't think I was getting ion-ed.

Thanks Tracy!
I really like your quote by the way. Look at us both in on a Saturday night! I had to rest after applying for this fellowship though. I like to eat popcorn and watch Apollo anyway. Hope you are having a good time!

Girl - you're good. Because I need a party like nobody's business!

But I'm glad I'm not the only night owl.

The quote means a lot to me. I can relate to the author (an author who is now a well respected scholar on race issues and the law) and it was a hard thing to admit to myself. When I read it I felt better knowing I wasn't alone. And I realized that I had to make a major change in my thinking about the law...

I have to use my "powers" for good and it's important to me to remember that I got where I am on the backs of the beautiful strong black women who came before me. Educated or no.

I owe them. This quote reminds me of that everyday. I have it on my bathroom mirror too.

I just wish some of my classmates would take a look inside.....

And I'd like to give Self-Reflection a BIG Shout Out from me and Tracy!
