Ok. So.... I'm getting married in 2008. So.... I need my hair to be

BEAUTIFUL!!!!! I am a natural, 3c/4a. The problem is, I want it to be a certain
length for my wedding - at LEAST brastrap length - and it seems to be
growing sooooooo slow! Brastrap for me is a little past 17 inches. Right now I am at 13.5 inches (last time I chcked about a month ago) when straight. I take really good care of it and I have sworn off heat. So far, I'm doing well and trying not to be so anal about checking the length, but I am really concerned. In the past, everytime I start to get around 14 inches my hair starts to break. Please help me!!! Can anyone give me advice on how to maximize my personal growth potential, and more importantly, retain it!!!!! It is doing well right now (as far as health), but I am so scared to lose it - especially since my wedding will be approaching. Its very important to me. I can't get married with this hair!!!!!!!! :nono:

First off Congrats girl... Girl you have enought time to get there (more than enough time you probably would make it to MBL by then).
Tips to stop hair from breaking
1- Moisturize - # 1
2- Protective styles
3- Treat your hair like silk
4- take at least a multi-vitamin everyday (can add biotin, MSM, horsetail, etc)

Edit:
Oh and for MTG or an MTG alternative. I use sulphur and oil for the left side of my hair to even it up a bit.

We are in the same boat. Sort of

I am also getting married next year (July) my hair never makes it past mid-back length right now I am at 20 inches and I need to make it to about 25 by July, I could also use all suggestions cuz I SOOOO want waist length hair by then only because my hair has never been that long and I know it would look so good down with soft curls going down my back on my wedding day.

So we can both keep on each other for having fab hair on our wedding days ;)

Eat a good diet with lots of lean proteins and a variety of good veggies,

CONGRATULATIONS!

Softresses

Thank you for the tips and Congrats everyone . I have been taking vitamins and moisturizing. I have to try not to be tempted by the heat though! Keep the tips coming ladies, I'm taking notes :weird:

Awww Qetesh! Congratulations Girl!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We can both make it! Your hair is really beautiful by the way. You don't have very far to go, so I'm sure you'll look gorgeous! You're doing a lot better than me right now. It seems I have so far to go! I really would like to be waist lenth by the wedding, but I am trying not to push it, as I don't know that it is realistic for me. So hopefully, I can do BSL, or even better, Mid-back! I don't know about waist length for me though. I agree, we should check up on each other. This will be fun!

thanks my hair is slowly getting there, i did break my rule by flat ironing my hair last night to try out my new sedu. but after this i am leaving the heat alone untill next year  ... i hope. waist length almost seams out of reach for me also, but i have to think 5 inches and your there so i jus keep my head up and i need to start protecting my ends more (yes i am bad and wearing it down again today:perplexed )

Hey, Congrats on your big day. I'm sure you will look gorgeous....

To retain your hair growth and increase growth rate i suggest you bun your hair faithfully and baggy those ends, my hair is really dry and has always broken off but since discovering baggying the breakage has decreased significantly...and i just started baggying ten days ago!!

Also, i think you should consider joining the grow hair like weed challenge...it should help loads.

I'd also suggest you up the vitamins (Biotin, Flaxseed oil, MSM, etc) intake (if you can) and stick to taking them faithfully.

Lastly either use MTG or and alternative growth aide.

ope this helps.

Thank you so much Henrietta  . I am currently taking a Women's vitamin and Sea Kelp, and I hope that's enough because I had a bad experience with vitamins about a month back. I was taking large amounts, and my side and back began to hurt on the inside, and I broke out with large lesion-like rashes. I don't think my system can handle too many vitamins. I was taking sea kelp, a women's daily vitaman, a hair vitamin, and horsetail. That was not fun.

My hair is in braids right now - following Robin Wood's technique. I will look up the Grow hair like Weed Challenge! That sounds like just what I need! By the way, how exactly do you baggie your ends? Will it work for natural hair?

Qetesh , how are you doing? My hair seems to be growing a little bit in these braids, but we'll see. I am attempting to keep them in for two months  . We'll really see about that one. It will be my third week tommorrow. I have been trying to eat right, exercise, and kind of leave it alone for a minute. What have you been doing?!

More comments and advice are welcome!!!!!!! :weird:
