Gym Steam Room

I'm thinking about using the steam room this morning. However, I do not want to ruin my hair. How do you guys protect your style, especially when wearing a straight look?

Your hair will be DONE, son!!! I only do the steam room when curly and I put a ton of deep conditioner in and get a free steam for body, skin and hair!

You could maybe try using products with anti-humectants to repel the water...but I'm not sure how this will go over on straight hair.

if you don't wear staright hair as your primary style...you could do teh steam room as much as you want. you could slather your hair with conditioner and make a treatment of it. drinks lots of water to replenish and continue to tweak your eating habits.

@MissCrawford

don't do it unless you plan to wash after. i only do the steam room when my hair is textured and on or close to wash day.

I agree. I basically do it the same day that I planned to do a co wash too because I need to take advantage of the steam opening up the cuticles of my hair by dropping some conditioner on it as soon as possible!

So when I step out of the steam room, I immediately saturate my hair with deep conditioner and by the time I get home and rinse it off, my hair is super soft and the conditioner has settled deeply in my hair. By that time, the only thing left to do is moisturize, put in my leave in conditioner and help my cuticles close a bit more with shots of cool air or air drying and I'm done. :yep:

My gym has a sauna, a steam room and some weird thing called a solarium that I absolutely adore. I've accepted that the trade-off for glowy, radiant skin is limp hair so I just wear my hair unstyled on gym days. Curly hair, don't care.

You could always wear a turban with a shower cap underneath though.
