Grown up natural styles

Ok ladies, I have been wearing my hair in its natural state since 1994. Granted, there was a time or two where I texturized it and I even permed it again around 2001 but grew it back out.

Anyway, last week I 2-strand twisted my hair. Went to my meeting and was approached by some of my team members who said my hair looked really good BUT I looked all of 12 years old!!! AARRGGHHHHH! I had the 2-strands and pinned them up in the front and let them hang in the back.

That wasn't quite the look I was going for - I do want an adult looking natural style. My hair is too long for afro puffs but honestly I think they look kind of juvenile. I do wear a wash-n-go but am a bit bored with that. The only other style I have done is flat twisting my hair back in 6 fat flat twists and wearing them out the next day. That looks nice but I eventually get lazy and do not feeling like twisting my hair up the night before.

Any other suggestions?

I feel ya CurleeDST about wanting to look more grown up. I'm always mistaken for a pre-teen or teenager too, even when I had relaxed hair! I guess when we get 40 years old, we'll look like we're in our twenties.

Definitely check out Napturallyme's album. I love going to her album for style ideas. She's a lawyer, so I think you'll definitely find some professional-looking styles there.

Thanks for providing the links. I mostly wear twists in my hair but I them very small. They look more like spiral curls so it works for me.

I also want to add that you could try putting your twists in bantu knots at night so you can wear them with a curly look. I think that will look cute and grown-up.

I get that all the time too. People at my office always look at me strange cause I look too young to be there. Whenever I want to look "mature" I definitely go with a bun or i do updo's w/ my 2 stranded twists or twistout. For the most part natural styles just look youthful as opposed to immature. For me its also a package thing, what I am wearing and whether or not I wear makeup....
