I don't get it. ive checked out some pics of last year and at almost the same month its like nothing happended; Ok the few times i got my hair done at slon= they broke my hair my detangling with small tooth comb + leaving my ends out when i told them to stop 3 inches from the hair!!!!! i got breakage!
i think i should maybe top twists? (always get knots at the ends).

what am i doing wring on my natural hair??i feel like im working this out for nothin! like "maybe my length is my maximum length"....

im planning on taking vitamins, mioisturising my ends lots more! and sealing them,+ excercising!!! after a long time.

when i have extension braids in, after 3 weeks i see the growth is so good and encouriging;but then if it grows well, why dont i see it? should i moisture the whole braids and seal? it will mess them up.

what can i do to catch this up please, help.
thank you

It sounds like your retention is off. That's why many black women think that they can't grow hair...it just breaks at the same rate that it grows.

All you need to do is keep your ends moisturized and protected, and you'll start to see more retention.
Firstly, you should stop going to that broke down salon, and find a new one. Or learn to do braids on your own, or find a friend who can do them, or stop getting braids and switch to another protective style. It really doesn't matter what you do or how hard you try, because that salon is ruining your progress by ripping through your hair and by not braiding past the ends. As long as you give them your business, you will continue to struggle with retaining your length.

If you choose to continue with braids, then please please find a braider who will comply with your wishes and understand what you are trying to achieve with your hair. It may cost a little more, but in some cases, you get what you pay for. And when you have your braids, it is important to treat them like you treat your own hair. You might want to try the crown and glory method, which advocates for the use of braid moisturizing sprays and conditioner while you have extensions in. Using moisturizing sprays is good for braids because you don't have to rub them in, so your braids are less likely to get fuzzy.
And when you DC or co-wash with your braids in, applying and rinsing the products carefully will help keep your braids neat and fresh.

I think once you incorporate moisture into your braiding regimen, and once you find a better braider, then you'll start to see a real improvement. :yep:

Coolsista, you may want to try Salon Black Look @ Chateau D'Eau. I always went there for braids and they did a wonderful job_ braided past the ends and the braids were not too small. (This was a few years back though).
I agree with everything stated by Chaosbutterfly.
You may consider changing from braids to weaves and/or wigs as a protective style to help you retain length and keep your hair hidden.

Bonne chance!

thank you for your answers.im sure nor going back to that salon! im so afraid of chateau d'eau!!! the 2 salons just pulled my hair out! but in case i might try the one you said.

ive finally finished my braids today (i did it myslef) and im gonna moisturize more ! i thought having braids meant= there nothing to do a part spray the hair, i was wrong!
i also want to try a weave but then i'll have to go to the salon! and im soooo afraid of them to pull my hair out! thats why i decided to wait, waaait and wait but i really wanna try. The other thing is with natural hair im thinking ive got almost no choice of styles, cant leave my hair out.
as for wigs, i am soooo scared of it to fall off in the street or some fool pulling it off( ive already seen this ladies ,guys are such a..h....s sometimes) ! but wigs nd weves can be wondeful

That small comb will broke your hair! Honestly your retention is off. I agree with choas...go to someone who will comply with your needs...wash and dc weekly or more moisturize YOUR WHOLE HEAD and especially the ends daily or twice a day..If you are worried about messing up the style then get a style where moisturizing doesnt mess it up. Moisturizing daily is neccessary!
