When I hit waist I stop
I would be very grateful and I think it would be very informative, if everyone could give their top 5 tips to anyone trying to grow their hair

dont hold on to damaged hair just for length, trim when needed
avoid heat as often as possible
protien can be your friend or your enemy
stay informed/stay positive
keep up with the moisture/condition often

no heat
use relaxers as less as you can
don't believe you need a trim to grow hair
moisture, moisture, moisture
keep hair protected while you sleep

1. deep condition every week
2. protect the ends of the hair
3. avoid the following: heat, too much harsh brushing, to much chemicals (colors, relaxers)
4. be gentle with your hair, treat it like threads of gold
5. be patient, growing hair takes time

1. Eat healthfully and take a good multi-vitamin
2. Exercise
3. Drink lots of water everyday
4. Keep ends moisturized
5. Stay away from direct heat (i.e. no hot irons or blow dryers except for maybe special occassions once or twice a year)

For me growing my hair starts with overall nutrition form the inside and as long as I keep my ends moisturized and condition often I'm able to retain the growth.

1. A wide-tooth comb is a MUST
2. Conditioner is your hair's best friend!
3. Don't believe the HYPE. Even though 500 people rave about it, there is no guarantee YOUR hair will like it. Find what YOUR hair likes, and stick to it.

I can't think of anymore right now.

Mine might be a little different from everyone else's but here goes:
NEVER detangle wet hair. Comb it before it gets wet.
Keep heat and styling to a minimum
Identify what the one thing is that causes you to lose the most hair and stop it, or at least change it.
Can't think of any more..

Here are some of mine:

1. Leave your hair alone as often as possible.

2. Find a style with maintenance that does not require heat.

3. Leave your hair alone!

4. Cut those split ends. Not only will this stop damage in its place, but it will also make your hair to be easier to maintain, thereby allowing you to:

5. Leave you hair alone!

1. Keep your hair moisturized. Do not EVER let it dry out.
2. Do not hold on to damaged split ends or long thin ends. They will not heal nor thicken up and will not make your hair look very nice. Long AND healthy is the goal. Otherwise, what's the point?
3. Protect your hair when you sleep by wearing a satin scarf and using a satin pillowcase in case the scarf comes off. Also pin your hair up so that it isn't moving around and getting tangly.
4. Watch your hair when you wear it down. Beware of wools and thick cottons that can "eat" your hair.
5. Changing this to Minimal heat except for deep conditioning! Enough said!

- condition, condition, condition
- try to air dry most of the time
- trim ends WHEN necessary
- always use products that are detangling
- find a routine that works for YOU and not for everybody else

1. No heat
2. Keep your hair off drying fabrics...so in the day, wear a protective styles, at night only sleep on satin or silk
3. Frequent washes
4. Deep conditioners
5. Moisture, moisture, moisture

Here are some tips, not necessarily about growing/caring for your hair, but about embarking on a hair journey

*Take pictures (crucial!) but remember that "a watched pot never boils"--in other words you don't need to measure your hair every day

*months and years will pass anyway. Don't be upset if it will take you a while to reach your goal.

*Be consistent(I know it's hard on this board seeing all these new product reviews and stuff

)

*Document your good hair days, your new discoveries. One day when your wash day goes all wrong you're gonna want to remember what conditioner it was you used 2 months ago that miraculously cured your dry hair issues.

*Focus on treating your hair optimally one day at a time--what could you do (or refrain from doing) today that will be good for your hair in the long run?

I got a couple:

1. Never brush hair when wet, keep brushing to a minimum even on dry hair.

2. Deep condition once a week

3. Invest in good hair accessories (elastics w/o metal clip, hair sticks, good hair day pins, silk or satin scrunchies)

4. Always protect hair while sleeping and during harsh winter months.

5. Water is the best moiturizer, wash frequently.

1. moisture, moisture, moisture!!
2. deep condition every time you wash your hair
3. try to use (at least) light protein every 2 or 3 weeks
4. dont use lots of heat (or heat at all!)
5. believe you can do it.

Everyone has given great tips!
I'll jump on the bandwagon with:

Little to no heat styling (under dryer for minimal time is okay).

Keep it moisturized! That means a water-based product with oil, or followed by oil.

Less, is more! Once you find a routine that works, stick with it. I tried working in extra shampoos, conditioner washes etc., and goodness knows I was a product junkie! Now, I just stick with a core group of products that perform well all the time and I wash and condition once a week.

Deep condition with mild protein followed by a moisturizing conditioner once a week if you are relaxed.

Take a balanced multi-vitamin.

1. Protect your ends and maintain them moisturized w/ protective styles
2. Wash min. once a week to prevent hair follicules from clogging
3. Deep conditon every wash for min. of 60 min w/o heat or 20 min. w/ heat
4. Minimize hair manipulation by keeping your hands out of your hair and combing no more than once a day if possible
5.Trim as needed especially if you see split ends
