A few methods I do...
If I know my hair is really tangle, I'll wet it, saturate it with a thin conditioner and then comb through with a jilbere comb underneath the shower head in two sections. Then, I'll shampoo and condition.
Normally, while my hair is saturated with condition in 2 sections, I'll do the Tracee Ellis Ross method. Working with one section at a time, I'll start at the back and get a small piece with my fingers and then detangle starting at the ends with my Denman brush. Swing it over my shoulder, grab another section, detangle starting at the ends, swing it over my shoulder...and continue till I've done that whole side. Then I do the other side.
Pin it up while I shower, and then rinse.
Works really well. I just started doing this recently.
