Grease

I am reading about hair grease on another hair board and seems like alot of women over there are saying they dont use grease anymore and that they have benefited alot from that. I was wondering if many of you all are non-grease users too.

i've stopped using hair grease for years now. i just try to keep my scalp mosturized with hot oil treatments. i let the hot oils saturate for an hour then shampoo and condition. as a result my hair growths in more faster because my scalp isn't clogged with grease.

I stopped using grease as soon as I started doing my own hair high school. I always hated it. I don't think it harmed my hair, but I never liked the greasy look and feel.

I do like to use petrolatum and mineral oil free pomades on my hair, though. Not my scalp--just my hair. I don't like that creepy, crawly feeling on my scalp when it starts to melt!

For me grease never was a problem, for me it made my hair even thicker than it was and made my hair grew,So i still use it. I tried to stop once but when i did, it made my hair itch like crazzy so i went back to using it. I guess different strokes for different folks.

I'm an ex-greaser!!!!

I used to have the driest scalp so I had to grease my scalp. After I shampooed if I didn't put grease on my scalp it would be all tight feeling and white looking!

Now, I'm happy to say I no longer have the need to greeeease!

I take flax seed oil and evening primrose oil. I also do weekly olive oil treatments and believe me the difference is INCREDIBLE!!! Oh yeah, all of the water I drink also contributes to my "better scalp" now too.

Try to let that grease go girl!!

You know i, for a while, had stopped using grease also and had decided to use olive oil but i am running out and keep 4gettin to buy some more in the stores so im using some hairgrease now. It does nice and my hair looks and feels fine. I got me some Boline Coconut oil hairgrease and i havent really put it through my hair yet even though i did yday along w/some hollywood beauty castor oil and :^p maaan it aint done crap for my head in terms of moisture. It was all dry :^P. lol. But as soon as i get some money(olive oil virgin pure isn't very cheap) i will get some again and use that, but right now im saving my olive for my hot oil which i'll be doing today. :^D

I like grease, mainly the Hollywood Beauty Castor Oil kind.

I can't wait to take this ponytail out so I can put some of that stuff on my hair and scalp!

But I must admit, now I don't use grease as much as I used to, ever since discovering Profectiv products. They are just as moisturizing, and there are so many of them, that I forget all about the grease.

Welp i didnt put any grease on my scalp last night infact not much on my hair(some, but not on all of my hair) and right now my hair is like :^S. Soo dry. Needs some moisture. I wonder what i did wrong.

btw, does any1 else have some occasional feelings of tightness or so in their heads? Meaning sometimes u think u have a clip or something in your hair and when u reach in there is nothing there or u remember that u didnt put anything in your head? I have that somtimes i dont know why. Maybe its these pills. hmmm.

I was greaseless for two (2) years after finding hair boards. While greaseless, all my effort was spent trying to help my dry scalp. I decided to return to grease and my hair and scalp are VERY happy.

Jojoba Oil - Paraffin Wax, Soybean Oil, Lanolin, Coconut Oil, Castor Oil, Jojoba Oil, Cetyl Ester, Ispopropyl Palmitate, Cycolmeticone, Fragrance, and Propylparaben
made by ORS

Forot to add: I also use Profectiv thinning stuff as hair grease. I didn't feel anything in my spot but the moisture it generated led me to use it all over my head. The hair is very moist after using it.

One thing that I've learned is that grease and oils aren't moisture. Water is moisture. All grease and oils ever did for my dry hair was make it greasy--it never felt any less dry.
If you really like grease, look for a lotion moisturizer like AllWays Oil Moisturizer or BB Castor Oil--something with water in it. If you worry about frizzy, poufy hair, put it on before bed and tie your hair down flat. When I was relaxed, I applied the wet stuff at night before bed and wrapped my hair. (I don't know if you are natural or relaxed...)

A lot of people like Cathy Howse's Dew . I've never used it.

They say petroleum is bad for the scalp, but to be honest I still don't see it.

I do hot oil treatments weekly with EO's but my scalp is very very dry and so I need to moisturize my scalp with something more. I was using Murray's Oil carrot oil grease and then switched to a shea butter mixture (which works very well by the way). But recently I ran out of the shea butter mixture and returned to the grease...My hair loves it and it melts right into my scalp. I don't think it is harmful or hurts my pores.

Many people with very long hair in my family swore by grease and never had any problems.

I think it really depends on the individual.

I used to use grease on my scalp because it was dry and flaky, but when I started doing the conditioner washes, my scalp wash no longer dry or flaky. So I guess I stick with this program.

i never really had a problem wit hair grease but stopped using it bcoz i'm in braids lik 99%of the time and noticed that wen i put grease on my scalp, the only thing it did was aid in creating knots!!

I love grease. I am natural and press my hair half the time and my presses never last a full week unless I use grease and I usually wash my hair once a week.
