I know my natural hair is going to be too hard to deal with!! and I want a little looser curl, SO i decided that im going to get a texturizer!!

Is their anything I should tell my stylist or make sure she doesnt do so my hair wont be overprocessed..? she does my dads texturizer...my dad has a really nice 3c hair but his is short so he gets it texturized so its easier for him to manage....

I figured that if i wanted to try it now would be the best time because Im transitioning so if worst comes to worse Ill just grow the texturizer out...lol shoot im going to be doing this for around a year and a half anyways So i know i would make up for the lost 3 inches if thats the case...

any suggestions...tips? anything?

my ends are still relaxed so she should not put any on my relaxed hair right?!

thanks in advance ladies! /images/graemlins/trampoline.gif

girl i dont think it could get any straighter....its been overprocessed! i should just do the BC but im scared! /images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Re: Im doing it! Im getting a texturizer! TODAY!

DS--it shouldn't be applied to the relaxed part of your hair anyway. Anyway, It looks like you have a stylist who has experience with texturizing. /images/graemlins/up.gif If you've really made up your mind--then go for it! /images/graemlins/grin.gif

Re: Im doing it! Im getting a texturizer! TODAY!

I thought you couldn't get a texturizer while the hair was relaxed. Someone else that knows more please chime in. Now if you are using a relaxer to "texturize" the hair meaning not relax the hair bone straight then I think you are ok.

Re: Im doing it! Im getting a texturizer! TODAY!

Best Wishes!! Go to someone you can trust and is knowledgeable about texturizing. I've relented to just doing it myself. I would advise that you tell her 10 times, no less, exactly what you'd like. Tell her you want to loosen the pattern & not lose the curl. Watch & make sure she doesn't apply relaxer to your length, well tell her first, then watch. Make sure there isn't too much smoothing going on and definitely not out to your ends /images/graemlins/nono.gif. I use a mild relaxer to ensure that my hair doesn't go too straight, b/c it doesn't take much for me.

Re: Im doing it! Im getting a texturizer! TODAY!

Do you know what kind of texturizer she used and how long she left it on? Love the Indian hairs BTW. Very cute style on you.

[/ QUOTE ]I believe it was dudleys mild perm for about 10-15 mins she left it on it doesnt look right does it?

Re: Im doing it! Im getting a texturizer! TODAY!

I'm not sure so I don't want to scare you. I think it came out just fine but again, I'm no texturizer expert. Don't worry.

Re: Im doing it! Im getting a texturizer! TODAY!

K thanks i was just expecting some curly wavy roots...if you look at the picture its loosly wavy....but im not sure if thats how its supposed to look its not perfectly straight like i used to get my other relaxers....

maybe when all my relaxed ends are cut off it will look different

Re: Im doing it! Im getting a texturizer! TODAY!

DS--the curls are always straighter/looser when you JUST get it done...the curls revert a bit after about a week or two. When I retouch my hair--my hair hangs all good and feels "heavier" with little product, but after about 2 weeks--I have a big old afro again...haha /images/graemlins/rofl.gif

k thanks girl
my hair dresser says I dont have curly hair...lol than i was like what is it...she said nappy...im like nappy hair is curly...its just really tightly coiled in some places...but i have looser 3c type hair in the back...i took pictues of my hair type before i got it done than after...

what do you think it is?

Re: Im doing it! Im getting a texturizer! TODAY!

I think the only hair type that can't be texturized into curls is 4b. It goes straight. I think from what I saw I would call you 4a and I think that your hair can be texturized. It looks alot like mine and I text mine fine myself. Here is the part that is worrisome. When I use Dudley's mild it gets it too straight for me. I think she should have left it on less time. I think that relaxer is a strong mild as opposed to a very weak mild like Fiberguard.

Re: Im doing it! Im getting a texturizer! TODAY!

I think it came out well too. Looks good to me girl.

It looks like you're a 4a--I'm a 4a/3c mix as well and my hair isn't really coiled--it's shaped more like a tiny "S" I only get the coil part at the ends of my hair--so I think the wave that you got shows that you may have an "S" shape as well...

Re: Im doing it! Im getting a texturizer! TODAY!

yea I was thinking that too...it seems like on the sides and crown area it is coiled i showed my mom yesterday!! the little coils they were hard from the gel i used...

but in the front and in the back its more s typed curl... so i see why its wavy instead of curly...
