Try to deep condition your hair once a week with a good deep penetrating protein conditioner. Follow it up with a moisturizing conditioner.

Please help, because I'm confused by it and would like to have some advice about this.

This is good for me every other week but I am relaxed and my hair doesn't mind protein. This may not be good for everyone though. Too much protein without enough moisture can cause breakage. I'm sure there are some threads on protein/moisture balance on the forum.

Good luck to you!

I think conditioning with a protein conditioner every week would be way too much protein. There's nothing wrong with weekly moisturizing conditioners though.

I am protein sensitive and avoid it like the plague.
I eat foods that have protein and hope they reach my hair
the only time I did a protein deep conditioning treatment for 3 weeks in a row was when my hair was breaking soo badly. I used Aveda DCR something

I believe You Have to Find the Perfect Balance of Both For Your Hair. My Hair Thrives on Protein Based Products, but I know I have to balance that out with the Appropriate Levels of Moisture for My Hair.

Other's Hair may not be able to "tolerate" high levels of protein (like mine).:look:

You have to tweak your personalized regimen to find your perfect levels for you/your hair.

I may Deep Condition with a Penetrating Protein Deep Conditioner but I always follow up with a Penetrating Deep Conditioning Moisturizing Treatment.

At times, I will Steam 30 minutes with GBP, Lamur Bone Marrow or some other Protein DC'r and then I will Steam another 30 with something equally as moisturizing.:yep:

I use some sort of a Protein/Moisture Combination Weekly

This is a rule I follow..NOT WEEKLY THOUGH....But if I deep condition with a Med/Heavy Protein Treatment...I follow up with a Moisturizing Conditioner..

Yes it does depend on the person and/or hair...I do this every week actually about 2-3 times a week because my hair is fine and has thrived with the extra protein

It is always with a mild protein...(i.e. Keraphix, Aphogee 2 minute, AO GPB, etc)

I also agree it depends on the person.

However, just reading what ppl say they use and the status of their hair, etc...It seems like more of a Godsend for relaxed ppl, and not so much for naturals. I used Motions CPR on my relaxed hair and fell in love with how my hair felt afterwards(mind you, I didn't know anything about this protein thing at the time. I saw deep conditioner and was like "yay!"). I wouldn't bring it anywhere near my natural hair, though.

IA: I am Relaxed. When I came to this Forum, my hair was mushy, weak, overprocessed, damaged, porous etc...You name it, I suffered from it. I knew I needed Protein (and still do) but I also know I have to balance that out with the appropriate levels of moisture.:yep:

Again, Individual Balance is Key.

I'm relaxed with fine 4a strands and an oily scalp. I wash my hair every 3-5 days typically. With each wash (provided that I have the time) I do a protein conditioner for 30-45 minutes and then a moisturizing deep conditioner for another 30-45 minutes. Those times are cut down to about 20 minutes when I sit under my dryer.

I can't say if it right or wrong, I guess it really just depends on the person.

ITA because I do DC every week with a protein deep conditioner or reconstructor. In addition to that I cowash with a protein conditioner or reconstructor at least one time a week. Works for me.

I think I am going to try this 2 step process. I usually do one or the other. I do mostly moisture and protein as needed

I've been using protein weekly with no problems at all, albeit I mainly use a light protein, I've not had any breakage issues; I'm actually finding my hair is getting stronger. This is clearly an individual thing though.
