You can mix coconut oil with a little shea butter and avocado oil. Put it in a jar. Once it cools down, it'll solidify.

I am currently using Keracare High Sheen Glossifier. It is light, and is easily absorbed by the hair and scalp. I apply it to the scalp just after removing my rollers (when my wet roller set is dry, that is). My hair stays nice and soft all week, with a nice sheen. My scalp is also well-moisturized.

Can I get a sample of that from somewhere?

Hairgrease normally makes my dandruff kick into high gear and I wanted to try it first.

Thanks ladies. I just bought Hollywood Beauty Castor Oil Hair Treatment with Mink Oil.

The ingredients are Castor oil, mink oil, sweet almond oil, vitamin E, joboba oil, paraffin oil, safflower oil, lanolin, cocoa butter, propylparben and fragrance. Sounds good, huh?I think it is what I am looking for...something that lubricates the scalp but without the mineral oil and the vaseline.

I used to use that faithfully! My hair grew like nuts. The only problem was that it irritated my scalp (dandruff). But, I hope you like it.

I've used it. I didn't care for it much. I think it made my hair too hard, which caused it to tangle excessively whenever I shampooed it. But it didn't do much for my hair. Hot 6 Oil is better, in my opinion.

Me too. I don't know about the growth but it kicked up the dandruff like all the rest of them.

I agree

I make a pretty good grease alternative:

I melt about 2 tbsp of shea butter then add 2-3 tbsp of olive oil. Sometimes I'll add rosemary EO. Once it cools down, it will look and feel just like "grease". The difference is the body/hair absorbs it.

It is basically a hairdressing cream similar in texture and color to Razac's or motions hair dressing or even the one by Optimim care in the light blue bottle with the coralish top.

I don't use Profective Mega growth on my scalp simply because I think that it is too heavy. It takes the body away from my roller set and wrap too fast.

Do you like Cute? Does it make your scalp itch? I have a body cream that I was considering putting on the scalp but I am thinking it will eventually get caught up in the hair. I need somewthing substantial that absorbs and moisturizes. Something in between shea butter, jojoba oil, and hair grease.

The shea butter and jojoba oil weren't substantial enuff and the hair grease is too much.

Oh, i did not realize

Did I like it ummm not really. I am just not a big fan of hairdressings. When I just relaxed and didn't color grease and oil sheen was enough. Now that I color as well as relax and don't want to use grease anymore I use oil sheens more now for he ease in covering the hair. I don't have dandruff or an itchy scalp so it wouldn't affect me that way. Someone put up a site one time i think it was called urbanbotanica.com. On the site if I am recalling correctly they had a product to substitute for grease that was all natural without petroleum etc. Also have you seen a derm for this, is it really dandruff or seborhaic (sp?) dermatitis ? If it is seb derm no OTC hair creme etc will solve it. The 3-in-1 was horrible on my hair and the mega growth as well.

Thanks cute. Nizoral and other dandruff shampoos address the issues but hair grease still gets yucky after a while. I went to the site and they don't list pricing so I have emailed them about the hair oil.

Natural Island Hair, Scalp & Skin Nutrient. I don't know if it's available outside the Carolina's yet... But http://cornrowsandco.com sells an identical product called Island Citrus Pomade. It goes on dry and smooth instead of slick and greasy like most pomades. Ingredients: Jojoba oil, coconut oil, aloe oil, vitamin E, grapefruit extract, beeswax and carrot oil. And it smells like a grapefruit!

Or if you want something heavier, try Kemi Oyl Shea Butter Pomade.
