Gone Flat Hair

Is this normal? When I get my hair pressed/flat ironed all the volume is taken right out of it. It looks like I have fine hair - and not much of it. Does this happen to anyone else?

I've always been told that I have a lot of thick hair. Why do I only see it when its curly?

Next question is How Do I More Volume? How do I get a more voluminous look to my hair when its straight? Make it look thicker?

I am told that's what flat-ironing or pressing does. Many ladies want their hair flatter to their heads. I'm not sure how you can increase the volume after flat-ironing unless you make a braidout or twistout. I haven't flat-ironed yet, maybe someone else knows for sure.

Same thing happens to me right after I get my hair relaxed and flat ironed. I don't use heat any other time so my hair appears thicker again after the first time I wash it after a relaxer.

I thought my hair just was fine,a nd the only reason why it was big was b/c when it was curly it shrinks up and creates the volume..... I have to look into this.

I was going to say this too abuot not using heat and about rollersetting as BeautifulWideEyes mentioned (I'm sitting here drying out my rollerset). I must be getting sleepy...

this happens to me too. even when i roller set. i went to a dominican salon and did a roller set a week after a relaxer. Now it's flat, shiny and silky but flat. I like a fuller look. I'm curious to see more posts on this. maybe it's the product or the heat?
