Going natural because you think it's popular

half of all the black women I see have big ol afros or locs. The rest are straight haired naturals, relaxed or in weave so I can never tell but yes, I feel pressure to jump on the natural bandwagon. For a variety of reasons.

Right now, I'm trying to transition but sometimes I feel like "who gives a damn??" just enjoy your hair. I may go into this keratin trend instead of relaxers and then who would be the wiser? you transition while having relaxer results.

I wanted to go natural because I hated the relaxing process and really didn't like going to the salon. I had the courage to go natural because I saw a lot of women around me doing the same. I think that is the distinction people are missing.

I had no expectations for my hair, but I have always taken care of my hair and only going to the salons for chemical treatments and deep conditioning so it was not a hard transition for me. I had so much fun experimenting with products and ingredients and methodologies when I went natural. I have now settled into a new normal with my hair and thrilled I made the choice to be natural.

I live in NYC, the capital everything of the world. When it comes to natural, relaxed, transitioners, weaves and wigs, I've seen the Good, the Bad, the Superbad and the Fuglies. I've even seen Marley hair look bad and it doesn't even look that great sitting in the bag.

No one provides any kind of inspiration in this city; not up close, not from far, not at work and not at happy hour at the bar.

I'm good. The crack ain't killing me, so I have no reason to hate it. If I ever go natural, there will be no defending a lame excuse. If it happens, It happens. Yup, just like that!

Please excuse my iPhone; it's trying to get it together

It's a different way for some. I love my natural hair, but I love it when I relax, too. I always go back and forth. It's the same thing with fads. The best thing is that there will always be a variety of hair choices. I say more power to them.
