I decided to try L'Oreal Healthy Hair Creme Gloss in Black because I couldn't find the other hair shine treatments you ladies recommend....
...well this stuff sucks. But since I was doing my hair I went along and took tons of pics.

What type of shine treatment were you trying to do? They sale clear and color rinses at Sally's. I use the Black Cherry Jazzing to cover my little gray strands, a side effect is shine. Especially, in the sun!

I see sheen/shine in the photos on the right side of the screen.

OT: Don't those velcro rollers damage your hair? Please advise.

I just wanted a glaze treatment for extra shine. I couldn't find John Frieda Glaze Treatment so I used L'Oreal. I don't think my area has a Sally's but I should have went to a BSS instead of Target.

I was experimenting w/ the Velcro on a roller set. But I wouldn't use them again like that.

It made my hair feel squeaky, if that makes sense, and tangled. 95% of my products are pH balanced so I assume my porosity level is normal. Is there a way to tell what your level is?

There's no SUPER accurate way of testing it at home because user error and w/e but the general rule other than running your finger up and down the strand (smooth is low, ruffled is high):

If your hair is resistant to dye, moisture or product and dries slowly --> Low
If your hair takes up product, processes and dries normally -- > Optimal/Normal
If your hair soaks up product and processes but cannot retain it, and if it dries abnormally fast -- > High

Also, your hair is lovely! And, imo, pretty shiny in the later pictures. :yep:

This is the first time ive heard of one of these. Do normal oils and sprays not work or is this something entirely different.

I once went to a salon for a gloss treatment. Yeah they all suck. Unless your bending your hair a certain way, standing in the sun, and making a sacrifice all at the same time they usually don't produce good, long standing results. I also did the John Fredia treatment on a friend with similar results.

I get shine w/ oils. Photo below.

But a shine treatment is support to be a temporary intense hair gloss that last through 28 shampoos.

I use the John Frieda clear glaze or Sally's Diamond Shine glaze. Both give better shine with more use. I noticed a difference with the first use, but repeated use brings the bling.

I'm willing to give those a try. How did they make your hair feel?

Soft, smooth and silky. I love glazes. Since they close the cuticles (low pH), I always apply a moisturizing conditioner (rinse), then the glaze. Actually, I always follow any treatment I do with a glaze, including, protein, henna, dc, etc.

My fav is JF and my backup is Diamond Shine. You can get JF at Walgreens or rite aid. But with the DS you get more for your money.

Your hair looks great to me! I see a healthy, natural sheen as opposed to wig bling. I don't think glosses are able to produce the same type of shine on textured hair like it would on straight hair.
