Getting discouraged

With hair growing. I am not APL not close and i have been growing since july 2006. I am baggying, cutting out on the heat, and nothing is working. my hair is in good shape but i am craving lenght. I am trying not to get discouraged and not do something drastic like buy this home fusion kit and do an install, but it is getting hard and i want long hair and these photographers are killing me and i just want to look as good as everyone else...... HELP. I am trying to practice healthy hair care but it isnt going so well. I just need some words of encouragement:( :( :(

pretty i am in the same boat as you. i have been doing my hair and my conclusion is that i have to start taking care of my hair on the inside. hair growth is internal all the deep conditioning/moisturizing/and no heat is to retain and not lose the hair we have.

how are you eating habits? maybe you can try exercising to speed up some growth.

my eating habits SUCK right now. I know i need more fruits and veggies in my life. i think that would help me out right now....

since July 2006: are u having new growth: if so: then ur ends are breaking off: if not: i hear hair takes breaks sometimes & doesn't grow: i read that somewhere in Cathy's Book.

i am. i see progress, i also was a lot shorter and i see a lot of length since then. i guess i just see a the ladies here who are LONG and swinging and it is just a little frustrating thats all

seems like ur own the right track to me: well from July-Dec lets pray for 3 inches: I would suggest try not combing/brushing ur hair: only comb it wen ur washing ur hair to get out the tangles: start from the tips then comb ur way up to ur roots: check out Darkempress: she does a full baggy everynight: she went from NL in Jan to almost touching APL by August: maybe she can help u more than I can.

Have you been drinking lots of water? That's always a plus. Also do you use growth aids? Vitamins? I've been doing all of the above and I've noticed a boost - about 1 month post relaxer and looks like an inch of new growth already. It might be an internal thing, or possibly your hair is taking a break. Stay positive...the last thing you need is to stress over it :)

ok ladies. thanks much. I really appricate it. I want some length so i may get a sewin and just take care of it that way... I do feel better. and i can stopp looking at these kits too ;)

Please don't put the infusion in your hair, that is like taking two steps backward. Those things could cause irreversable damage. I think there are models on this board that wear protective weave and or falls. These are less damaging and can give you the length you are looking for. It is always said that moving from shoulder length to APL is very hard.

I am in a similar situation. I am trying to enjoy my journey, this will be some of the last times that I will ever have SL hair so I am enjoying it:)

Awww PP, you just have to hang in there. I know it's easier said than done. You still haven't hit the 1 year mark yet, and really, in hair growing terms you are still a baby. It takes time and patience, but if you are truly doing all the right things the length will come. Just focus on maintaining a healthy head of hair first because length always follows health. And that's inside and out.

You also have to remember that a majority of your hair, particularly the ends, is old, mistreated hair. It may take awhile before that hair turns around, and sometimes depending on the care you gave it prior to really taking care of it, it never really will. Sometimes, your hair will trip on you until that old hair is slowly trimmed away.

Also, try not to compare your hair to others. You're hair will do what it does in its own time-- and that is something I am trying to come to terms with myself. Be encouraged.

Great Advice SS

OT: You and your family look so wonderful and happy!!!:D

Back on topic: PLEASE DON'T put infusion weave in your hair....PUHLEEZE:(

ETA: I am very adament about this because I had my hair practically yanked out of my head when a so called professional did an infusion on my hair. It causes tons of damage at the root (stripping and weakening the cuticle at the attachment site), you also have to use tons of heat to get your hair to blend. It was THE WORST thing that I have ever done to my hair. On the other hand I have 4B hair so it is very hard to find weave to match my texture :ohwell:

Yes :yep: Talk to BMoreflygirl or RabiaElaine I believe they are the board experts. There is another one but I can't remember her name right now:)

or find out about Reniece and her regimen.

I think this is the link

www.reniece.com

I am excited for you :yay: You are going to look great with a weave!

Ahhh.....Prettypuff...stay strong...patience can get the best of us all at times and the un-informed can be so discouraging...hold the line, stick with your goal plan and you'll be a long heathy haired sista in good time! Your LHCF family is right here!

:kisses: dont get discouraged, I know what you mean, I feel like I am not gaining length either, however I do know that I have gained healthy hair, and clipping off my overprocessed ends has revealed fuller hair, maybe not longer, but I know it will come, and I consider that progress patience, and knowledge is key, hang in their ;) you can find it all here at your lhcf home,

Let them be an inspiration to you:) . Time, patience and hard work will pay off. On your one year LHCF anniversary, take some pictures and compare. Pictures don't lie.

One more thing...stay away from the infusion. I haven't heard too many happy stories about that technique.

Stay focused and stay on course.
