I am getting two tracks done in the nape of my hair tommorrow because that area is constantly breaking and it makes the back of my hair soo thin looking. I decided not to relax that area for a while until it grows to a decent length. The only thing I am afraid of is that when I get my touch up that some of the relaxer might get into where it is braided and eat away at my hair. If anyone has had experience with this please let me know how to avoid this so that I don't make a mistake. Even with shampoo I am scared that they won't wash it out properly. I was doing my hair at home for some time but started going back to the salon, I just don't know how careful they will be when applying and washing the relaxer out. Any advise would be appreciated on this before I get this done tommorrow. Thanks

I understand where you're coming from but I wouldn't do that. The thought of getting relaxer in the rest of my hair that's in tracks scares me. I'd wait until I take the weave down, relax and condition.... leave it alone for a while then get my weave. But that's just me speaking from a fraidy cat point of view.

why don't you get the touch up and then put tin the tracks.....you really are asking for trouble if you're going to do a relaxer with weave in....literally.

As for the hair in the nape that keeps breaking, keep it well moisturized and conditioned and try steaming it go get the moisture in....it sounds like you have two different textures in your hair just like I do....the back is very try and more prone to breakage...also, I would advise you relax the whole lot and then maybe put in the tracks so that you manipulate the back a lot less and then you can just touch-up when needed (just saying this because if the back is coarser, then it will be more likely to break in it's natural state (just my opinion of course)...that's what I would do if I were you.:)

Relaxer first but don't relax the section that you are going to weave. After the reaxer is done and your hair is dried then do the weave. This is the safer approach.

Yes I think I will wait until I get the relaxer then do the touch up. I had already braided the back up but did not sew it in yet but I will take it out before next week. Do you guys think this is even a good idea or should I just pay extremely special attention to this area by treating it? I have been using mtg which has helped with the rest of my hair but I think the growth is so quick in the back that it is also breaking it where the the newgrowth meets the relaxed hair. That is what I think is happening not sure. I just wish there was a way I could stop the breakage but it is too hard to figure out what I have to do. I have tried the moisture thing but that helped very little. Have any of you had good success with growing the nape out and how exactly did you do it. I did not find too many success stories about the nape area here so I was wondering. Thanks
