So someone answered one of my questions about shedding and breakage this weekend by suggesting using garlic... and I never got a response on why that would be a good option...

So thats my question, does garlic stop shedding... and if so why? And in what products would I be able to find it (something at a grocery or super center preferably) but I can buy online if I have to

thank you for all your answers in advance, I feel like I'm learning so much on this board... I had no idea that it was possible to stop all of the hair I see in the sink everyday, but if thats possible I would LOVE to know how...

thank you again

I am not sure how the garlic works but it does! I use if after I relax my hair. I apply a protein on my hair and garlic oil (I break open some garlic pills) on my scalp and sleep in it overnight.

I used to shed immediately after a relaxer touch up. Since I have been using garlic, I have practically zero shedding.

You should be able to get Garlic tablets in most places either walmart or a health place or basic chemist.

I have started chopping up raw garlic and infusing it into EVOO, so in a few days it will be garlic evoo. Lol!

I got my garlic pills from the VitaminShoppe but you can pretty much buy them anywhere. I do not purchase the odorless.

I forgot to mention that I mix the garlic with Aloe Vera gel (VitaminShoppe) and apply that to my scalp.

You can also try using alter ego garlic treatment. It's a little pricy, but some people have had great success with it. I had a little extra money, so I ordered some. Can't wait to try it.

Or you can try Nutrine Garlic conditioner. I could only lay my hands on some Queen Helene Garlic Conditioner, so I mixed that with some garlic oil I had made with EVOO and it worked pretty good, too.

I took garlic pills for awhile. I thought smelled like an italian restaurant and that was the scentless garlic. It did not work for me at all. Protein treatments actually helped me with shedding more. But that was just my personal experience. I know other ladies have had better luck.

Garlic is good for you anyways. It can't hurt. And even thought I thought I smelled like garlic, my friends swore up and down that I smelled fine.

Hello, Well I'm sure You know that shedding and breakage are 2 different situations, Garlic is Great for actual shedding, and protein is Great for actual breakage, now if You are shedding, the Garlic will help You to at least get it under control, taking supplements is Good, because, of course its working from the inside, but a topical treatment is very effective as well, here is a recipe that You can try, it beats buying a store bought garlic conditioner, because You can moniter the amount of Garlic you use as opposed to not knowing weather or not their is enough to get the job done, some labels state certain ingredients, but may only have trace amounts, at lease You can tweak, according to Your level of need:

Great Garlic Recipe!
