Has anyone tried garlic shampoo to curb shedding? I know this has probably been posted before but the search of course is not working.

What brand?
Where did you buy it?

Thank you.

I bought Queen Helene garlic shampoo(bss) on vacation last year because I didn't have my alter ego conditioner. It was harsh and drying even though I used it diluted. My dcs countered it though. I think it was effective because my shedding didn't increase beyond normal.

I also used Queen Helene Garlic that I bought from a BSS. It stopped my shedding after a couple of weeks and this was last year.

I'm about to use it again b/c I'm dealing w/ a little bit of post partum shedding.

Someone suggested I try it for my moms hair after our relaxer mishap, but as usual, she didn't wanna use it because she was warned by a baldheaded beautician that Queen Helene Products were damaging. Mind you she used Queen Helene EVERYTHANG while I was growing up. Anyways, I have been using it so I wouldn't waste my money! I luv it, but I am going to wait for another week of usage to post my results. I've been collecting my hair after every wash, detangle, style, etc. I have been a shedder every since having my first child and it hasn't let up yet (and he's 6)! I would be glad to find anything that works. I will most def keep you posted on my results.

Oh, as far as dryness, I haven't had that problem. I deep condition regularly and I baggy my whole head, so moisture isn't a major concern anymore. HTH

I use Garlic oil.......
It is much cheaper to infuse a few cloves of Crushed garlic into EVOO, and use it as a hot oil treatment.

Shedding stopped tremendously..........:yep:

ITA with SJ and I also use the Alter Ego garlic treatment. I have the Nutrine garlic shampoo and conditioner as well and I only use them when I don't feel like crushing garlic and having to deal with the smell of it:grin:.

I've used the Nutrine Poo and cond, the unscented one is pleasantly scented. No garlic stench.

I want to try it when I take my braids down. I've seen some at the Health Food store (I can't remember the name brand though:sad:) but since I'm on the road right now, I'll probably stop by Sally's and see if they have some.

i use nutrin garlic shampoo 20 oz 399 cheap:lachen:at bss

I have used Nutrine Garlic poo,Conditioner and Hot Oil Tx and I had great results using the combo.

Thanks Ladies - I just ordered some Nutrine Garlic Shampoo and the Conditioner (unscented).

I would suggest doing this over using the mainstream garlic shampoos. It's been my experience that they're too drying--they make your hair feel like it's been clarified. I've tried both Queen Helene and Nutrine. Besides, how much garlic do these shampoos really contain? Next time I think I need to stop shedding I'll try the crushed garlic/EVOO treatment. Thanks for the suggestion samanthajones67!
