fumes from flat iron

I was using my flat iron to straighten my natural hair at about 395 c and anyway as I was straightening and I did not like the fumes even tho I had fan on ,what is this doing to my lungs may have to rethink this or go to lower temp.What do ya think?

Even with no product in my hair, I still get smoke when I flat iron. I don't think it's a health hazard though. I don't know if this is a good comparison, but its like ironing clothes

eta: wait... you said 395 Celsius? not Fahrenheit?
