Oooook so for those who went from THIN to THICK …PLLLLEASE tell me how you did it!!!

..I want thick, HEAVY hair much more than length

i dont know if you can actually go from thin to super thick but i know a lot of ladies will say stretching relaxers and JBCO(castor oil). i do both and my hair is getting thicker but for some reason i question if thats just because i know longer get a hard press so maybe it just SEEMS thicker

I had thinner hair when I was relaxed than when I was natural. BUT my hair was so thick as a natural that it wouldn't keep up with me so I texlaxed. Now I have thick hair that's easier to straighten.

B Vitamins also helped with hair growth, less manipulation helped with breakage and so that helped with thinning. Also regular trims were important for "thick" blunt cut ends.

If your hair is thinned out from over-processing, heat damage, rough-handling, breakage, etc...then changing it up and adding healthy techniques will thicken it.

Co-washes, airdrying, deep-conditioning, stretching relaxers, less manipulation, braiding (the crown and glory method)...are some other techniques.

But if you have naturally thin hair, each individual strand is thin or you do not have a dense amount of hair on your head..............sure it will thicken a bit because of your healthy practices, but it will not become super super thick.

what is the crown and glowry method?

cholesterol treatments have made my hair seem thicker. I don't have any real proof. But I never felt like my hair was as thick before I started bi-weekly cholesterol treatments.

Mega-Tek , or OCT

Eat greens
Eat Protein

repeat

Good post! I wanna know too!

for a friend ? Your hair is already maddd thick

To the op - I was going to suggest going back natural .. but I see you BCed in jan .... i dont know what else to telll you. Maybe low manipulation hairstyles, little to no heat and castor oil on the scalp... oh and try henna

Henna! Henna! Henna!

I have very thin hair that that has been growing steadily thanks to MN and healthy hair practices (weekly deep conditions, co-washing, pre-poos). But, despite the roots growing in thicker, it didnt help the rest of my hair that was straggly and even when my hair was wet, I could easily see my scalp:nono: and this is 9 weeks post! I was even contemplating going natural. My hair never straightened completely with relaxers anyway, it was always crinkly, which I don't mind since I don't straighten my hair normally. I'm a wash and go kind of person. So after much research (on LHCF of course), I decided to join the henna bandwagon.

I wanted to darken my hair because relaxers have lightened it to a light shade of brown, something I don't particularly care for on myself. The only thing that made me hesitant was the fact that henna dyes your hair red and I really don't like red hair. But, used with indigo it creates varying shades of brown, depending on how much you use.

Last night, I henna'd for the first time and I love it! It messy, gritty, and at times a little scary but I will definetly add this to my weekly regime. I was skeptical at first, even as I was washing it out and deep conditioning afterwards. Even this morning I couldn't tell if it had thickened even though I love the rich brown it had turned and the nice shine. It was still damp from the 5 twists I had put in. But as it dryed, it just kept getting fuller and fuller (in a good way). I didn't even notice, other people did, commenting that my hair looked very healthy. I finally had to go a mirror and was shocked to see my normally straggly hair actually full around my head.

After thinking about it, I'm not sure if it was the henna, the amla oil I used (during and after as a deep conditioner w/ olive oil and Vo5) but my hair has never felt this full and thick.

I still might end up just texlaxing. I actually think that I accidentally underprocessed the back of my head the last time I relaxed and ended up I liking how it came out. This will make my hair even thicker yet still manageable. I can't wait!

:look: I just wanted to make the suggestion that weekly might be too often. Henna leaves a thin coating on your hair, and if you don't give it time to wear off, you can end up with brittle hair.

Maybe monthly - but weekly is usually too frequent.

Never had thin hair, but I went from thick to SUPER THICK through:

  • Being natural / texlaxed
  • MSM (prolongs growth stage / delays shedding --> have more strands on your head)
  • B Complex
  • Very low manipulation (decreases breakage --> have more strands on your head)
  • Castor oil (massaged into scalp and applied to hair.)
