This haircare journey has been an interesting one for me, I never thought I could live without my black gel, relaxers, and spritz!

I found LHCF in 2008 and decided to go natural the very next day. I had to grow to love my texture, I didn't have soft ringlet curls like my father or a shiny butter soft mane like my mother. While transitioning my grandmother always mentioned that "I needed to take better care of myself" (aka. "why would you walk out the house without your hair "not done")..

But to make a long story short, I ignored the urge to return to the crack, ignored the negative comments, and continued to learn to love my hair. And in return it loved me back. :yep:

Now on to the pictures.... 2008-PRESENT

Thanks for sharing :)

#1, I love the short, sweet and straight to the point intro about your history, no 10 paragraph bio and tons of pics, just like we love....:grin:
#2, you are super adorable with that kitty!!!
#3, Please dont think you are getting out of this thread without posting your regemine.:lachen::lachen:
#4, I LOVE the quick descision to go natural...ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT!!!

THANKS!!!!

Beautiful hair, awesome growth & retention!!! What was the top thing(s) you would say attributed to such amazing retention? Did you do a lot of protective styling?

AMAZING progress chile :).....what's your reggie??

thank you EVERYONE, you gals sure know how to make a girl smile :o

My regimen in the beginning was extremely convoluted. I was an extreme product junkie, wanted to try everything at least ONCE, MN on scalp, all different types of products and gels and creams and potions...

But now I keep it sweet and simple:
I wash every other week with either diluted black soap or suave clarifying shampoo.

I condition with whatever I have laying around the house (eggs, glycerin, silk amino acids, coconut oil), slab it on in sections, braid it and leave on overnight. I have a color applicator bottle I fill with pure aloe vera and a few drop of teatree/pepperment and use that on my scalp. It feels SO refreshing, I love it :) Plus, it stopped my dandruff COMPLETELY.

and then I style the next morning, either straightened or in its' natural state, depending on my mood.. (I love Redken smooth down heat glide for my heat protectant)

I'm not a no-heat nazi, I wear my hair down 85-90% of the time..I haven't had a stylist touch my hair since the beginning of my journey, self-trim time has become theraputic for me

Charmeuse silk scarf at night, no brushing, very limited combing..That's pretty much it... Thank you for asking!

Thanks hairedity :)

The things that I feel attributed to my growth and retention are learning my hair, meaning i stopped piling anything and everything on it. I had a bad habit of reading a review and jumping in my car to purchase whatever product was mentioned. Now I just stick with what works for me.

I do my own trims and I check my ends regularly. I don't have pretty flowy layers and my hair may not be cut into a style but my ends are split-free and I don't have salon regret from feeling like a stylist cut more than what was needed.

But I feel like my thirst has contributed to my recent growth spurt (I got an 1" last month)..Meaning, my water intake has been RIDICULOUS! I drink close to a gallon a day now. My hair, body, and health LOVES it :)

Thank you again for your question!

Your progress is ridiculous! Thanks for sharing.

Ok, you've got me motivated. If I can get to WL by December 2011, I will have went from NL to WL in 3 years also. Wow! You are so inspiring.
