Frizz or hair damage

Ok so after having my hair straightened for the first time since natural, after it reverted back I've seem to have a severe case of the frizz. So much so that I can's sport w&g's without an annoying hair halo. Now my hair wasn't this frizzy before so it might be hair damage but it's not like I can simply cut it off.

What hair products have any naturals tried in order to combat frizz hair? I use IC gel while I love the stuff it dries up pretty quick and doesn't get along with any of my other leave in's. Right now all I do is just try to lay down my crown with a scarf and minimal touching of my hair. Other than that I'm at a loss...

You may need to clarify. I had this problem once and it went away with bentonite clay. I also used baking soda once and it cured the frizz.

Bentonite clay? I'll try to do a search on that and see what comes up. I use a clarifying shampoo bi weekly but that doesn't seem to help with the frizz. Maybe I'll try at my next wash with some baking soda. Do you use that alone or include it with a conditioner or something? And also how much of it do you use?

You can add a tablespoon of baking soda to your conditioner. Its a different kind of clarifying compared to shampoo and it really de-frizzes your hair. You can do a search on baking soda to get other recipes. You can also purchase bentonite clay from whole foods, there are also treads and youtube videos on this. I hope this helps.

I just wanted to add that if IC gel dries too quickly you can always seal it with an oil or something to keep the moisture. I think it is silcones that cause clumps and things when mixing products. Maybe a regular old gel or curl activator will do the trick.

Otherwise I think that the other ladies advice is on point.
