Hey Ya'll-
Just wanted to let everyone know they can get a free copy of the book Healthy Black Hair. I had heard of the book she writes a beauty column but they didnt have it at the bookstore where I live. Its selling on amazon for 14.95. I dont know why its free I guess a promotion but I just got mine, took 3 weeks but I had to pay for shipping.
www.click4stylists.com click on the book.

She has a whole hair care regimen. I bet you know most of the stuff already, like washing your hair more and how to condition what conditioners to use, etc. but I relaly like that she gets scientific so you know all about your hair and what happens to it. Its easy to read. I zipped through it. she also has a glossary in the back with cosmetic ingredients in it so you know what to look for when you buy products. also she talks about your scalp alot. and natural remdies. its good. My mom is reading it now.

I dont know. She is a writer not a hair stylist. she said she had a lot of hair problems growing up. And had thyroid problems. She wrote the book with some hairstylists I think.

Here's some more info.

Thanks for the "free" link, Katie!

I got my copy today and flipped through it for few minutes. Pretty good for $6.

I'm going to read it and then give it to my young cousins. It's easy to read and focuses on chemically treated hair. She names products which is always a plus. I hate when authors say, "Use a moisturizing conditioner", but don't suggest anything.

One page mentions "hair tugging". I was

because my grandmother used to pull our hair when she greased our scalps and we all thought she was crazy!

I hope she doesn't see this and sue me...

Hair Tugging
It may sound strange, but hair tugging is actually a yoga pose used to increase circulation to the scalp and stimulate growth. And it feels good! Hair tugging should only be performed on dry hair. Make certain you pull from the scalp and not the ends.

How to Tug Your Hair
Grasp a handful of hair at the scalp and tug gently. Use firm pressure; you should feel it, but it shouldn't hurt! Hold for a second or two, then tug the hair in another direction. Hold and release. Repeat all over your head, concentrating on thin areas.

She also recommends scalp massages with my new favorite Indian hair oil-- bhringraj.
