For Wl+

I just recently reached Hip Length...

I need to know, for the ladies who have WL+ hair, what do you do to your hair at this point?

Like how often do you "do" it? How do you style it?

All I do is cowash, deep condition and wear it in a bun or a curly pony tail. I feel like I should be able to do more. Or this what ya'll do now, too? :lachen: Because ain't nobody got time for that!!

I have really been enjoying wearing my hair down these past few months.

I wash, deep condition and roller set every 10 to 14 days. I wear my hair down until it gets too weighed down to be light, flowy & have movement (around the 6th or 7th day)

Then I will wear it up until wash day. My 4 favorite styles:
Flexi rod curls pulled up in a high pineapple with faux bangs
Flexi rod curls pinned up into a faux bob
Two twisted ponytails wrapped around each other
A top knot

Wash & repeat.

Evaluate my ends every 3 to 4 months. Dust/trim as little or as much as needed.

I need a roller setting tutorial. I dont have patience! Lol!

I think what gets me is that when i big chopped, I imagined all of the things i would do to my hair once i reached my goal. But then in the midst of growing my hair out, i was hit with a chronic pain illness (fibromyalgia) and it robs me of my energy and so now i have to really mentally prepare myself before i attempt to do anything to my hair bc i will get frustrated and end up looking like something from Fraggle Rock. :look:

I'm taking.notes...lol . I feel like simple is best when it comes to retaining length...and I.hope to attain waist length one day!!
And @SmilingElephant , I also have fibromyalgia...I find the thicker my hair gets, the less patience and strength I have to deal with it...so I totally hear ya on that one!!

Doesn't it suck!? I try not to let it stop me from enjoying life bc I love to dance and I used to be so agile :(, so when I have good days I dance and everything. I just hate when ppl see me enjoying my good days they doubt my illness. But it strikes at any given moment.

Which is why I have to plan mentally even for wash days. I switch up products all the time but I stick to the same routine.

My go to natural style is a flat twist out, which lasts for a week. If it's straight, I wear it straight down, or curl it with flexi rods. Straight hair lasts 3-4 weeks. Occasionally, if I feel like it, I'll do a flexi rod set. Those last 1 week also.

Right!! I started developing symptoms when I was like 9 or 10, and im 18 years old...sometimes I get sad because I literally dont remember how it feels to be normal. But most days, I dont think about it, and I still try to live life because I have no other choice ya know? Everyday, I hope they come closer to finding out what causes it, why people develop it, and hopefully a cure!!

For me, I like putting in box braids because it allows me to not have to worry about styling...just wash, deep condition, air dry and moisturize as usual!

And yes...ladies, please come thru with some WL pictures lol... :needpics:

I can't rollerset my natural hair and it not need to flat iron afterwards.

I usually wash once every 3 to 4 weeks, I know. Then I straighten it and wear it in a bun or ponytail. Sometime down. I will use dry shampoo a few times in week 3 or 4.

Before I got so busy I would wash and do a braid out and rebraid at night. I am pumping now after the baby and too busy now. I will probably start back in the fall once i wean and get my evening back.

When I reached WL, I wore my hair in a bun 98% all the time. I got sick of it and all that hair and big chopped.

When I wore my hair out it was almost always in a twist out. I think I look better with curly hair, so I chopped.

Fellow fibro fighters!!! :curtain:@SmilingElephant @PianoTiles
I hope you're having a good health day today.

Yes!!:bighug:I'm doing decent today. I feel rain coming (can you predict weather, too?:look: ) The best thing about having all this hair is that when you DO have a condition like ours and you don't feel well you can just leave it alone or put it up and forget about it. :yep:

I'm on day 3 curls today...i dont feel like bothering it. I think i'm gonna go find me a new creamy daily moisturizer so that i can continue with not washing my hair every other day.

I hope youa re feeling okay as well. This pain is NO joke!:nono: BTW i LOVE your user name! Do you play piano?

And then I realize you're not @PianoTiles :giggle:

Oh well! Hugs for all of you! :grouphug:

You have pretty hair Smiling Elephant. I can't wait to be waist length.
I hope you all that are suffering with fibromyalgia get better. I remember one of my clients mothers was suffering and was treated for years with this pain. In her case, she later found out that she actually had a severe vitamin D deficiency which mimics fibromyalgia.

SE you're hair is gorgeous, Can you recommend a good detangler?

Thank you! :D

I don't use detanglers. I've been thinking of trying one but idk how I would incorporate that into my regimen.

I just detangle in the shower with ungodly amounts of conditioner using my fingers. I do the harp method to gently release tangles and rake out the shed hairs. I do this in 2-4 sections.
