I have a question regarding how you grew out (or if you still are growing) your hair. How often did (or do) wear your hair down?

i reached brastrap a few months ago and started cutting while its growing so i'm a solid brastrap now. i have grown my hair out with co washes and buns all the time.
i only wear my hair down twice a month at most.

i wear my hair down approximately twice a week when i go out with my family on weekends or to church. when i get home i just pin it back up.

ms jen your hair is beautiful, very shiny.....
I wear my hair out a lot actually, in the winter however I do put it up but it's not a tight bun. It's very loose with my ends loosely tucked in (but sometimes my ends are exposed) ...i haven't found any problems with it though.

ccd, I had never looked at your album before just now. Your hair is GAWGEOUS! And you're very pretty. At first I couldn't figure out if I was looking at a person or a pretty little glass doll.

After relaxing first at age 12, my hair got shorter and shorter for the next 2 years and then I finally reached bra strap again at age 16. I wore my hair down and ponytails...did nothing special at all. In fact, it's a wonder that it actually grew long and healthy b/c I never washed and didn't moisturize. Can't get away with that now though.

I wear my hair down only when I go out and only if my hair has been flatironed. If not, I wear it in a ponytail 24 hours 7 days a week. So my hair is up 95% of the time.

Thanks ladies everyone's hair looks so good! So it looks like I'm doing the right thing. Although my hair is going at a pretty good rate now, I was wooried if wearing my hair down too much would harm my hair. I wear my hair down about 3 times a week. When I do its usually via a rollerset. Thanks again!!

Ohhh, solychic, caralexis and asummertyme.......thanks so much ( i'm blushing)

here's the routine:
I wash and set always. I use Rusk deepshine or Matrix sleek and smooth( just discovered last year) (in the past it was Salerm products)

Deep conditioners: 10 en 1, (most recently adding Hollywood olive oil cholestral), ( in the past Mizani Moisturfuse)

Since college I stopped using blow dryers and curling irons and started going to the dominican salons, thanks to a friend who had a great head of hair...In the summers I will wash and go occasionally but mostly only when I go on vacation.

I didn't start putting my hair up( loosely) until it hit my shoulders, then for what seemed like a year I keep it up until it went below my shoulders. I read somewhere that the friction when your hair is shoulder length is damaging to your ends. I was trimming regularly up until my stylist kept telling me the ends where fine (Feb'03) my ends still have no splits or damage so I'm going to wait it out....

I wrap my hair at night and use a silk/satin scarf ( I believe this has been a major part of keeping my hair moisturizeded? I wake up in the morning and just comb it down with a wide tooth comb , I don't have to use heat on it until I wash/set again)
( i use to put heat on it almost daily-ahhhhh I know)

I also take vitamins , biotin and silica and a multi since '99, i was stressed out and i found that my hair was shedding alot..... then i added vit. E, C ; collagen, 2 skin supps, recently a few more since LHCF-flaxseed, primrose and MSM

My hair has some parts ( the front and underneath/back ) that are still shorter but growing, so since I joined LHCF i've been paying more attention to them . Wow I hope that wasn't (tmi) good luck and any questions i'm here...thanks again

PS I mostly do my hair at home now, i go to the salon for touchups (every 8weeks) and I ask them to blow out the roots only instead of going down all through my hair- I think that helps too )

I'm a little past BS now but I'm still growing it out to my goal tlbone. I keep it braided or up in french twists or buns, phonypony's when it's not braeded, and I do wear it doen occasionally- I'll do that more when I'm closer to my goal.

Hi keylargo, the collagen I take is from Puritan's pride, I take it because as we age the production slows down, I just want to be proactive...since using though I had notice a definite change in my facial skin, I'm not breaking out as much...i use to monthly (not anymore) however, since I added MSM..I am seeing more breakuts lately, I had to stop that for a while. collagen 6000mg (wow i just noticed that) the one i have also has vit C which helps the absorption......... have you read Perricone's prescription by chance? great book

2 skin supps: are DMAE (a nutrient found in fish) and alpha lipoic acid( an antioxidant) i decided to take these this past year because i spent alot of time in the sun this summer and last..then i started reading about skincancer even in AAmericans....just trying to repair the damage and prevent any future.... i also suffer from hyperpigmentation when i pick at my breakout

....DMAE& ALA (facial cream) is fantastic for preventing scars

For me, it depends, although I do wear my hair in twists most of the time. After wearing my hair in twists, I will take them out and just let my hair run wild. LOL! I will wear a twistout for at least two days (depending on how small the twists were) and then it is time to wash again.
