How long do you keep them in before you give your hair a break from them?

Do you notice better growth retention w/them versus w/o them?

I will probably get some put in on Thursday and hopefully I will start retaining more inches because I didn't retain much this year:nono:

I used to wear them almost exclusively and I never took breaks. I would wear them for 2 weeks, take them out to wash my hair and then get them re-done the next day. I did this for years.

This was all with my own hair and it grew wonderfully.

I usually wear single braids or senegalese twists(but can't find my braider, she says she's tired:sad:). I'm on the corn row kick right now and I plan on leaving them in no more than two weeks at a time. That's because I spray them a lot and they probably won't make it past two weeks. I will keep this up all summer and hopefully see lots of growth.

How long do you keep them in before you give your hair a break from them? I can go up to three weeks before they start looking raggedy. I sleep in a satin bonnet to keep them from frizzing.

I noticed better growth retention with them. When I first went natural I work them off and on with extensions for a few months and it helped.

Thanks for posting this!! I'm wearing them all summer. I'm transitioning and hope to see a lot of growth, so I can bc in the fall!!

I wore my hair in cornrows/ cornrows and plaits for over 4 months straight. I would wash in them twice a week, and when they start looking raggedy , undo each one and redo it. I probably changed the style like twice in those 4 months. I believe it is a wonderful low manipulation hairstyle and it allow my ng to be happy without me fussing over it or trying to detangle and so forth. I plan to continue using cornrows even after I finished reach my hair length goal

When I was doing interlocks a couple years ago I left the cornrows in for about 13 weeks.
I'm getting cornrows on Thursday and will probably leave those in for 13 weeks or earlier if it gets too messy. I find they pull less on my strands so my hair is thicker but in terms of retention...to my hair a protective style is a protective style :)
