..do you experience breakage from the bobby pins you use? I am starting to wear my hair up alot and that is a concern of mine. Any insight/advice would be appreciated!

(updates coming soon!)

current length: about 9 inches when stretched
natural 4a texture
goal: bsl by 2/1/06 (that's about 6 months to grow about 3.5 inches!!)

I prefer hair pins like the ones pictured below instead of bobby pins because they are gentler on the hair. I have not had any breakage from using them.

I do not use any pins for buns, but do use them for other styles. The ones I use are 3 inches long, firm, and do not bend easily. I find that those are best at holding my hair in place. However, they also come in smaller sizes and some are thinner and more flexible.

I'm not sure if the brand below is one I have used, it's just the only picture I could find. If you buy some pins like these, be sure that they feel very smooth and have tiny balls on the tips because that makes them gentle on your hair and scalp. :)

I no longer used regualar bobby pins for my buns anymore.

I use the same pins as Renee n 3000 and have not experienced any breakage.

I don't use bobby pins. I wear a kind of "ponybun" using one or more ponytail holders or scrunchies. I think I may be too lazy to bother with pins.

I use a combination of Good Hair Days pins and the pins renee pictured. My hair is pretty fragile so I don't use bobby pins, or elastic bands for that matter.

I wear buns pretty much everyday and I never use bobby pins. I put my hair in a ponytail, wrap it and put on a scrunchie to hold it in place.
