Don't! This weekend I've been feeling like I haven't made as much progress as I would have liked. I saw all the long heads posted lately and it made me doubt myself. I felt bad because I decided to relax(like I didn't try hard enough)...the humidity was doing a number on my hair... My thyroid is acting up(I feel fat and I felt like it is drying out my hair)... I was tired of wearing my hair back in protective styles. I was tired of all the ladies in the office who had their hair styled and mine was back in it's usual ponytail or bun. I was tired of rollersets because I love the way I look when my hair is straight. I have never liked myself in curly hair(one of the reason's I decided to relax again). My hair is fine and when I roller set some of the body goes with it...the silkier my hair is the thinner(does that make sense?). It got even finer after I relaxed. I had decided to cut my hair back to above the shoulder and maintain that length. So today for the first time in 2 years I said the hell with it and blowdried my hair and then I flat ironed it with some of my pomade.
I couldn't believe how much my hair had grown despite cutting off over 10 inches since November 2001. I feel so much better now and it feels alot thicker than when I wet set. The sides of my hair never grew to lay below the front of my shoulders ever and they do now. I still may cut it to shoulder length...but I just wanted to say don't give up. All the protective styling, rinsing with distilled water and all the other stuff we do here does work. Some of us reach our goals quicker than others...or had long hair when they came here looking for advice....
I say this to say don't give up on your hair and the goals you set... take the setbacks for what they are...just another obstacle in the road. Find a way around it and keep going.
