I found this post on a website...
Hi I am a 32 year old female and I was recently diagnosed with PCOS. (polycystic ovary syndrome) I found this out, because I had follicle pain on the top of my head, so I went to the doctor/OBGYN. The pain feels more like a burning or stinging sensation. Anyway, I found out it because my hormones are unbalanced due to small cysts on my ovary. These cysts cause extra testosterone to be let into the blood stream, which then travels to the follicles. This can lead to hairloss if not taken care of. My doctor is trying to treat me with birth control pills, and I am not to happy about the side affects from that. That also only covers up the symptoms and doesn't deal with the problem. I am going to see a bio identical doctor that deals with natural hormone balancing and hopefully get this all under control. In the meantime one can drink about 3-6 cups of wintergreen herbal tea a day. This helps lower extra testosterone in the blood which will help with the follicle pain. It takes a week to feel the results. I hope this helps!

I have had cysts on my ovary since I gave birth to my daughter 2 years ago. They have always resolved on their own. I am wondering if this additional testosterone has anything to do with that issue of the crown. Mine is in the same spot where men go bald. hmmmmm.
