If you had to go to a salon today (idk why but lets's say you had to) what would you do prior to going there? With all the horror stories I'm sure it would be a lot of preparations.

I would wash my hair in my four sections, deep condition the day before or day off for a couple of hours and take my slippy conditioner for them to rinse out and tell them to comb under the water and bring in my leave ins including heat protector. I know they would probably be looking at me asking me what's the point but oh we'll. Also I would bring my wide seamless comb and tell them to use that comb while they roller set. I could imagine them talking about me, probably right in my face if they some another language lol :oh well:

Haha.

I'd probably go with my hair still in curls after I take the rollers out. Just ask them to straighten my roots in the front a bit. Give them my serum, wide tooth comb, brush then. Was

Please excuse my iPhone; it's trying to get it together

If I went today, it would be for a deep condish and a straw set. I would detangle my natural before hand and go with it in Celie braids.

I would also gear myself up for the argument about why I neither need nor want a cut/trim/secret BC (cuz you know how they do).

I would also be prepared to tell the stylist numerous times to NOT be ripping through my hair with that rattail comb!

I would oil my scalp the night before and add oil on my hair the day of. I would mention to do only one shampoo pass and not 2-3 times. Also to blow dry under medium heat and sit under hooded dryer for 15 mins until scalp is dry.

Most importantly, to press my roots only and then proceed flat iron all over. I don't like my hair super bone straight with all the heat. My hair will lay as days go by from wrapping my hair very night.

Although I like to be pampered, I'm really not a fan of the hair salon and only go on very special occasions.

I'd just shave my head bald and get it over with.

I will not touch a salon and they will not touch me. People just don't know what to do with textured hair and it makes me sad.

I would only go to a salon based on a referral of someone I personally know with long healthy hair.

Every good stylist I have ever had came from me walking up to a woman with long hair and asking her "who does your hair?"

This way I don't have to do all the prep.

I interview the stylist prior to letting them touch me, possibly meet them for a consultation prior to an actual appt and never let them cut my hair on a first encounter.

I have gone a few times in the past few years to straighten my natural hair and i bring all of my own stuff. Poo, conditioner, deep conditioner, sageman comb and serum. Only things missing were the scissors for a trim and the hot combs/flat iron. I hate doing my hair but i want the same results that i would get had i done my hair.

But no matter what i brought with me they always managed to jack my hair up. One lady (the last and final stylist) did not use the heat protectant before blow drying and used multiple passes to straighten my hair and did not use the hot comb like i asked. Needless to say i was severely heat damaged and am still recovering.

That's awful! :(
