How are you taking care of your hair under the wig?

I have my hair cornrowed, it hasn't even been a full week, and already my scalp is itchy, and a poofy mess.

I blew it out before I braided it, but it didn't take long for the braids to loosen up, and some unraveled at the ends. :ohwell: I did them as small as I could.
It's even worse when I moisturize or oil it. I know I have on a wig, and only I know this, but it looks a hot mess when I take off the wig at night. :spinning:

I've had it braided since Thurs, and I already feel the need to redo them, I wanted to keep it braided for at least 3 weeks before taking out. :ohwell:

3 weeks of the same cornrows? The longest I can go is a week and a half, any time after that and they are a hot frizzy mess. If you take them out then wear a braid out for a few days and then go back to braids and wigs.

Lol, yea. that was the plan, but I can see it ain't gonna work. I've been doing the week of braids and redoing. so I guess I will continue with that. :yep:

Well I stopped doing cornrows for that reason so I've opted to do box braids using my own hair underneath. Now they are fuzzy and loose because I've taken a leap of faith and kept them in for two months. I've NEVER done that ever!! I think I really just got a tad lazy to be honest with you. I also wash twice a week, hence the fuzziness. I've taken a couple out to re-do and to see how much length I've gotten, comb shedded hair out and braided it back up. I'll take them all out to rebraid in Jan. and then again in March.

I think in either case be very careful that your hair doesn't matt up, hence me redoing some and rebraiding the fuzzy curly ends. Also keep the ends moisturized so the hair will slip against each other.

I hope this helps some!

Thanks so much, yes that does help alot. :yep:
I braided my own hair, and washed once with them in. Box braids sound more convenient for me as well.
Wow, two months = amazing growth. :drunk:
