I'd like to purchase an oil I can mix with a pre-poo conditioner or even with my regualar conditioner for extra moisture. Any recs are appreciated.
Thank you.

Alma was not moisturizing enough for me. I would use the coconut oil or even avocado. I just got my red palm but the jury is still out because I can't put down the avocado butter long enough to try it.

I like Amla Oil. Its been wonderful for me. I even use it as my general moistuizer. It does have a strong scent. At least the Dabur Amla oil does. Its a Floral scent..but if you put it on at night, it usually fades enough by day to go around people. Its also all I use as a pre-poo..my hair has never been more shiny. I wish the camera was working so I could show pictures of how shiny my hair is with it...and very soft.

I like alma oil for pre-poo's. I haven't tried it mixed with anything. When I have alot of newgrowth, an hour of alma oil does wonders.

I use alma oil only my scalp, for me it can be drying to my ends over time. Coconut gives great shine but thats all it does for me. Red Palm has become a favorite for me, its the only oils/butters I can use on wet hair. I put this over leave-in it drys so soft. I also smooth red palm butter over my ends, they look and feel silky after air drying. Avocado butter soften and moisten my hair also but I can't use it on wet hair. Plus Red Palm is so cheap and it delivers!!!!

What about mango butter? Should I get that also or just the avocado butter and red palm butter? They are to mix with pre poos and deep conditioners, but want to avoid anything that will weight my hair down too much leaving it without movement.

I get mine at the local Caribbean ,West Indian, or African markets... try those first ..if not then try online

Hi MissMadaam,

I also live in Maryland. Can you give me the name/address of the places that you go to purchase your oils?

Thanks!

I'll also PM you just in case you don't come back to this thread.

I've heard of folks using it with mango butter. I think it depends on the products you already know will or won't weigh your hair down. So if mango butter doesn't weigh your hair down, I would go for it!:yep: I use mine in combo w/Cathy Howse's Moiturizing Cream or simply a la carte...I also combine it with my DC.
