I haven't relaxed since late June or early July and I have 5 - 6 inches of new growth. I haven't gotten a relaxer because I'm basically afraid of salons (one too many bad experiences!

), and I don't plan on relaxing again until I find someone I can trust. I'm not in any rush. Suprisingly, I'm not having too much difficulty with my hair. I just have to make sure I detangle with every shampoo or conditioner wash otherwise I get massive tangling.

Well, I give all credit for my growth to Freeda Biotin. I take 7.5mg a day in divided doses (2.5 mg. 3 times a day). I've used other hair supplements like Viviscal and other brands of biotin in the past, but nothing has given me this kind of growth like Freeda Biotin. In addition, I take a multi-vitamin and Flax Seed Oil.

I use the following hair products that are especially helpful in managing a lot of new growth: Nexxus Y Serum Conditioner (so, so moisturizing and the best detangler I've ever used! also works great as a leave-in), Kenra Moisturizing Conditioner, LUST, L'Oreal Unfrizz Taming Cream, and a silicone based serum. S-Curl is also very good for softening new growth.

The last time I relaxed was in early August and I don;t plan on relaxing again until January. I have about 2inches of new growth tight now. I basically wear my hair in a ponytail all the time. If I want to wear my hair out, I airdry till damp and do a braidout. I've been using the Keracare humecto (lifesaver for new growth), Pantene conditioners and Nexxus Y serum as conditioners. These all do very well in softening my hair.

As for leave-ins, I've found that Razaz Perfect for Perms leave-in does and AMAZING job at detangling (thanks Beana

). I also use the S-Curl no drip curl Activator along with that and it keeps my hair very moisturised and easy to comb.

Oh BTW, I detangle my hair in the shower with the Jilbere shower comb. Yes, I finally broke down and bought one after all the raves and let me tell you it is worth it. My hair is so thanking me for it right now.

Tee, I'm really glad to hear you're having such success with the Freeda biotin. I just received my first shipment of those and I will start taking on Monday

I haven't had a relaxer since (let me think...)maybe July? Anyway, i don't think I will go back to a salon. I felt like my hair was in better condition when I did it myself.

Ok, back to your question. My hair is doing great. I have about 5 or 6 inches of new growth as well and the most difficult part is that my new growth is of two different textures (Type 2 in the back ~ Type 4 in the front). Anyway, I also put a hair polisher/glosser on my hair before blowdrying and curling. (I only put heat on my hair once after washing). On the new groth, I spray it with Pink Oil's glosser or Isoplus.

I have noticed that I have to wash my hair more frequently (twice a week), but as I learn more about hair care, this is not unusual.
