FLORIDA Ladies! Come in...

Thanks y'all! I'm familiar with Hiawassee Road and I'll be checking out the other one on International drive. The weather has been nice lately and I'll be trying to blow dry and flat iron, not too much humidity.

Funny you should say that. It is raining as I type so don't plug in the flat iron just yet. Lol

Super Beauty Depot changed to me. When they first opened they had EVERYTHING. I think now it's more wigs and hair than anything. There is a new BSS on International Dr. in that mall I think it's a Marshall's, Ross and Bed Bath & Beyond...right before the outlets. They have some good stuff. there are a couple of BSS in the Walmart mall on Kirkman in Metro West.

KPH SmilingElephant, I'm in Orlando this week. Do you know the name of the one on I-drive. Super Beauty Depot is the one I frequent each time I visit. The focus mainly seems all about wigs/weaves though.

Bumping this thread.

Just moved to Orlando area and I would like to know if anyone can recommend a "hood" BSS? There is a Sally near me and Walmart have a decent selection, but there are certain products that I'm sure I'd only find at a "hood spot" like Hicks Edges Gel.

Healthb4Length I used to love in Orlando but it's been about five years so I can't remember exactly, but I know there are some really hood ones on the south end of orange blossom trail/john young in the downtown area.

Hey this thread is still alive! Cool--what's up Florida ladies! I'll just keep an eye on it in case a meetup (at least in the S. Florida area) does materialize.

There is that one on OBT and Michigan. I tossed out the flyer from the one on international but it is in the mall where Ross is

I ventured out and tried the one on International Drive by Ross. Very nice selection! I got a nice mini haul and they had so much professional products that I want to try!

LOL - I just returned home (Tuesday) from Orlando. I went to a couple of shopping areas (Florida Mall, Orlando Premium Outlets - Vineland, Orlando Premium Outlets - International Drive, Lake Buena Vista Factory Outlet and another one - whose name I forgot).

I think I went into the BSS on I- Drive mentioned above. (Yes - I was on vacation and still shopping for hair products :nono: - PIT T FUL - I know) There was a Ross, T J Maxx, dd (discount store - which looked like a bad imitation of Ross) Dollar Tree, a costume jewelry store. The stores faced a street called Fun Stop (or something like that). Orland Premium outlets International - started a couple of blocks down from Fun Stop

Anyway, IMO that BSS was overpriced on most products that I looked at. Target is not cheap, IMO, and this store was higher than Target on some things.

Yes they were overpriced! I still have to try the other bss mentioned in thread, but they had what I needed at the moment. I was very spoiled living in Nj, I had easy access to amazing products, especially Dominican deep treatments!

Are there any BSS in Miami or Fort Lauderdale where I can purchase items like Oyin, Darcy's Botanicals, and all the product raves?

Bumping...got a question...

I'm thinking of going natural and moving to Florida (Valrico/Brandon) in the Fall.

It sounds like it's hard to keep straight styles. If you're natural what about braid outs or twist outs? As a natural can you do out styles in Florida, or only buns and ponytails?

The only product I've been successful in using for a twistout/braidout that won't explode in Florida humidity is Camille Rose Almond Jai Twisting Butter (at Target.) I can use it on wet or dry hair. Cantu Shea butter worked too (on dry hair only), but it builds up on my hair badly. (Glycerin is not high on it's list.)

Anything else with humectants is useless for definition.

eta...Camille Rose doesn't moisturize my hair at all, so my hair is defined, but it's not moisturized to me. Cantu Shea Butter moisturizes and defines, but it builds up.

Thanks ladies! That humidity sounds real. I don't mind keeping my hair in say protective styles for part of the year but in the winter would be nice to be able to switch it up.

I recently cut my hair to a twa, but when it was longer I did my twist out expecting it to frizz lol. I have no clue what works because it would keep my hair twisted up for about two weeks before I wore it out and then washed it. Sorry.
