Im trying to do 2 flat twists with a part on the side with the ends tucked under on this wash day since Im working tonight and need to be presentable.. my question is how dry should I allow my hair to get before attempting? I do the same look only with french braids but I really wanna do it with flat twist.

Idk if this will be of any help to you as I never transitioned...
However, I'd recommend leaving your hair as dry as it was when you successfully styled it in the braids.
Wet hair tends to be a bit more susceptible to breakage than dry hair, and while transitioning you need to be hyper vigilant about the line of demarcation because that's the weakest point of your hair strand.
I think you can't go wrong with a good moisturizer and some lubrication (oil/serum/butter) to keep your strands pliable while manipulating...
HTH! :-)

I've become so good at flat twists. I do mine on mostly dry (air dried) hair. I can't do it on wet hair and I can't do it when my hair is completely dry.
