Anyone use one? If so, does it help the hair get straighter? I never heard of these until I saw someone using one in a video posted here.

I picked up one by Goody in Walmart tonight for $5. Will try it out this weekend. Curious to know if it is any easier than using a regular comb.

Bumping for more responses....

I posted about this in a thread about a month ago and got no responses. http://www.sallybeauty.com/Straightening-Comb/SBS-345868,default,pd.html

I was using a regular rat tail comb with great results but it was awkward to hold in some spots on my head and I melted a few combs too:blush: This comb offers more control but I pull more hair out because of the tension from clamping down. It is heat resistant and I have only used it once. The next time I flat iron I will try it and loosen my grip on it so I'm not pulling my hair out. It does work though to separate the ends of the air and gives your hair more swing.

I got the same one from Sally, and I still suck at flat ironing new growth when using it. It's awkward for me to hold. I didn't master the round brush either, so maybe it's me.

But this comb is great for trimming/dusting. :yep:

Yeah it's awesome for trimming. That's where I had the hardest time too was at the roots with this comb, maybe it's because my roots weren't really straight from blow drying. I was thinking about just detaching the comb from the other part and just using the comb with my flat iron since it is heat resistant.

I have one and I've tried to use it twice but it is too much to try and hold the comb then use the flatiron.

I didn't think about using it for that. I'll use it the next time I trim to see if its worth keeping. On the fence right now. :perplexed

I went ahead and did my hair last night and after a short while I just got tired of using it. I blowdried using Pinkskates tension method on my 6+ weeks post hair and I was very impressed. That blowdry technique really had my hair straight before I flat ironed. I definitely recommend everyone to try it the tension method.

I like the comb itself over my rattail comb and was thinking the same thing about detaching it. I don't think this comb is really necessary - maybe if my hair was longer....

I've never used this type of comb but when I flat iron I always follow the flat iron with a regular rat tail comb. I think it does help get the hair straighter especially the ends.

I have the Sally's version but this flatironing comb looks a bit more interesting since the teeth are finer. I may have to locate it today... :look:

The Sally comb is specifically designed for blowdrying/cutting because the teeth are so wide. I think it's great tool for doing the tension method. But, I have yet to use it for a self trim.

Wow I never thought of using it for doing the tension method while blow drying. I'm going to try that next time!
