flat iron cleaning

When I went to the beauty shop on friday, I saw the most amazing thing..Some may find it whack:lachen: but my beautican cleaned her flat iron with perm.. It looked like a brand new flat iron when she was finished. She turned it on and let it get hot, then she applied the perm and it just melted all the hair residue off..I was like:eek: ....Then she ran some water over it and it was sparkling clean..I just want to share with you ladies that might want to get that hair residue off of those expensive flat irons...

I always just wipe it off when Im finish using it with a peice of tissue.

But my mother's flat iron...that's a whole nother story! I think i'm going to try this on her's. Thanx for sharing!

I typically clean my flat iron with damp rag after every use.

I hate dirty appliances. I will not use them if they seem at all dirty.

When i do got to the salon, I go for a roller set because I don't trust them to clean their appliance after every client.

they use to do that with the old hot irons to clean them. the directions on the fhi says to just use tissue and alcohol and it works fine:D

With my flat-iron, I just use a damp towel if I notice anything.

I never thought that using perm could clean a flat-iron. They don't use neutralizing poo afterwards? What if the chemical residue on the iron "over processes" someone's hair while they're getting it flat-ironed. I wonder who thought of that, and why not just use plain ol' soap and water.

I use to do that back in high school with my curling irons. Back then we were always competing with hair styles and using so much hair spray and heat could mess up a curling iron.

It also works on regular clothes irons too!
