Five things I hate about trims

Yeah I had another bad experience getting a trim. But believe me, it's not as bad as last time. I wanted 1/2" to an 1", and lost a little more than an inch. Even though I know it's not that bad, it still "hurts." So no pictures. The hair is still long, just a little shorter than I'd like. But it's totally my fault. At some point I will learn not to go with any stylist and just the ones I know and trust. So since this is the second time, shame on me. So here's my vent. My top five, why I hate hair trims.

1. Because my hair won't act right otherwise.

My hair rebels! It looks thinner, even though it isn't. It won't curl. It won't bounce. My two strand twist look bad. I was seriously debating whether I needed to trim my hair every month for the next year to get some thickness back. I didn't. All I needed was a stupid 1" trim.

2. Because I can't really do it myself and trusted people are scared of trimming my hair!

Last person that gave me a dusting was my mother. She trimmed off six hairs saying I really didn't need it. Sigh....

3. Because every millimeter that's trimmed feels like foot.

Sorry, but it doesn't matter if it's just an inch it still feels like mile afterwards.

4. Because stylist lack basic listening skills, respect for people's hair and their goals, and basic measurement skills.
Why in the world would a man comb my hair like the devil is on his back? How do you hit snags on straight hair? When does 1/2" turn into a 1 and 1/4"? And why would you tell me not to grow my hair out. What the...

5. Because I don't want one!

Yes, I totally want to deliberately lose a whole six week's progress for no apparent reason. I know it makes my hair thicker. I know my hair gets this awesome swag and looks really silky! But maybe I don't want to sit in a chair and dread someone scalping me, when all I want is a tiny 1/2" trim to keep things neat.

In the meanwhile, I'll enjoy my new swag for the weekend before bunning again.

You are natural? Why don't you try trimming your hair in twists or right before you twist or style your hair?

I have been natural for almost 5 years and I have never let anyone trim my hair for me since being natural. As long as you aren't wearing it straight, there is really no need for a precise cut...shrinkage is very forgiving of an uneven cut. HTH

Right now, I'm a pressed natural this week and next week I'll be wet bunning then twisting the next week. When I start seeing thin ends on my twist I get real irritated. But since I like to wear it straight about once a month, I'm afraid if I trim it then it'll be all uneven. Sigh... Of course when I do full time twist in the summer, they get uneven all by themselves and once again need a trim. I HATE TRIMMING!

I just saw a 12 year old latina with WL hair. I wanted to cry. That's MY hair! That's what I want my length to be! :groans....
