About 2 years ago my hair was cut to nape level due to severe damage (My hair story in my journal). I cried on the way home.
From then I decided no more heat, no more braids. I got a wash and set 2 weeks later at the Dominicans and decided this set looks better, it is not that bad. So I went and brought a hooded dryer and rollers. I alternated doing my own sets and going to the Dominicans, as well as sew ins. My hair grew. It looked good. I was feeling better. Once it got to shoulder length I got lazy/frustrated. It became a little harder to do the sets, mainly because my hooded dryer does not dry past the 1st layer of hair (if my hair raps around the roller more than once). I have sat under there for 2 hours without my total hair drying. My fine hair does not hold the bigger rollers well (at least not with my amateur sets :drunk:). So I began to slightly neglect my hair. When I noticed breaking on my hair right b4 the holidays. I got a treatment, trim and sew in. A perm & another sew in after that. I removed the sew in and got another perm 2 weeks ago. Now I still have a little breakage but I am trying to bring it to none. I have already noticed my length have suffered because of it. I don't want to go too many steps backwards. So here is where I stand.
I am about to do my hair today, a lil nervous. Hoping to stop my breaking. I learned a few things on this site and Shamboise's book.
Today I will
Clarify
Moisture Poo (Motions)
light protein (aphogee 2 min reconstructor)
DC (ors) w/ proclaim essential oils
Leave in con (nexxus Humectress)
Set hair under dreaded hooded dryer.
moisturize w/ Kids organic Shea Butter & castor oil
Saran wrap

How does this sound?
I still have a lot to learn and being that my hair is fine/thin I want to KISS.

Question does it make since to pre-poo if I am going to clarify? (I never ever clarified my hair b4) I actually have to go buy one. I know i read about baking soda and/or ACV but i don't trust myself with that just yet.

I see sooo many people on this site that shows there progress and I long for that to be me. This site can be a lil intimidating and overwhelming. Even though from all of the threads I have read the ladies seem very nice and genuine.

Wish me luck!!

Welcome to the site! I'm sorry to hear about your hair breakage. I'm in the same boat (I wish I had pics!). The ladies here are so helpful! I've learned alot since I joined. Believe me, you'll have your hair back on track in no time!:yep:

Welcome aboard, Cocomyst..glad you are here. Pre-poo before clarifying..no..I don't do the extra step when clarifying. Your method looks simple enough but the results will be the test. Anyway, welcome again and best of luck in the process.
PS..I used to clarify with AVON but it's kinda harsh, now I use NEXXUS ALOE RID..gentle results.

Thanks Platinum and BKSouth for your welcome!!!

I think I will get the Nexxus Aloe Rid, I just read a thread where a few ladies suggested that. My second choice maybe Kenra.

I am also new on this site. I had a aweekend off work and I cannot stay off this site! I am really excited to start my journey healthy thicker longer hair. I think I finally got the technical stuff down, posting pics etc... now I am ready for the journey. I am only 9days past my touch-up so its easy right now. I am taking baby steps and stretching 9-10weeks my first stretch. I have never gone past 5-6weeks. I have also been told by another member to STAY AWAY FROM THE SCISSORS and get dusting only. I was getting my ends trimed faithfully ever8-10weeks by my white hairdressor ( he only trims my ends)( prob .5-1inch). My perms are done by my other hairdressor and she uses a timer. If I took the time out and patience to do my own hair I would save a bundle. He charges 15.00 a trim, she charges 60.00-70.00 depends if I get a rinse. 25.00-35.00 for rollersets. I love my hairdressor though!!! I may do my own washes but thats it, Im scared to do more.
