I maintained mine by just tying them down at night. Also, either way it doesn't really matter wet or dry (for me atleast). it still shrinks a whole lot. uMM when I am taking them out, I just untwine them, so whatever direction I did it in, I go the opposite way when taking them out. HTH.

I did my hair in finger coils once and it was nice. Here is a pic:
I kept a satan scarf on at night and just refreshed my hair with a little water during the day.

Someone did mine for me on wet hair. I just tied them down at night and that was it. Really low maintenance. I am thinking of getting them done again.

The way that finger coils work requires that they shrink. your best bet would be to do a spiral curl set on rollers. That will elongate the hair.
