I'm a little shell-shocked from yesterday's appointment to get my hair trimmed. Same hairdresser from when I had relaxed hair. Shampooed/deep conditioned my hair. Mentioned that I might have to get my hair blown out to get it trimmed, but ended it up not blowing it out. Measured length: about five inches around the perimeter and about four inches in the crown. Need to trim to get it more even. (I knew the crown had suffered a bit). Sigh.
After the trim, she proceeded to put some oil in my hair (hair was a bit damp). I mentioned that oils don't absorb in my hair. She put the oil (had to be a mix of a few oils) in my hair and then took a brush (like a bristle brush) and worked it though my hair from scalp to end. I thought my hair would feel greasy but it didn't. But my hair looked more "fro-y" than curly/wavy. She said that we would just wet my hair down again but cautioned me about frequent wetting of the hair because it keeps the cuticle open and doesn't allow moisture to remain in the hair. She said that I needed oil. I explained that I tried using oil in several different situations, wet, dry, more oil, less oil. I had not brushed it in, though. Concerned about brushing it in because the curl/coil was brushed out....
Did some twists; sat under the dryer. The twists came out kind of frizzy because she didn't know I would get twists and didn't have the right product(s) to use....
Don't know if I have a question, but I would like guidance about what to do with my hair because I should avoid ponytails to give the crown a rest.... And I would like to concentrate on cultivating growth. I plan to get some Boundless Tresses before the month is out but again, from what I read, it's an oil-based product.... Also planning to go back to henna'ing once a month....
I guess I just needed to get this off my chest....
