Finding Closure

I wasn't sure where to post this but how did you go about closing a chapter in your life. Ie. when people talk about "closure", I often wonder how they went about it. Did they speak to the said person or write down their thoughts or just move away and never look back, etc.

I want to close a chapter in my life and I'm somewhat struggling with how to go about it.

The beautiful answer is in your siggy: "Continue" :yep:

Continue with your life, making plans and moving forward, leaving the past behind. It's no longer included in what you do; leave it where it is and move away from it.

Livingmylifetothefullest i'll also add: allow yourself to grieve. the truth is, when we make a transition from one phase to another, there is a grieving process that sometimes needs to take place. it's not a sign of failure if you find yourself longing for the past or having trouble embracing the future.

Allow yourself to cherish the good things that happened in the by gone era, write down your thoughts feelings and emotions (to literally get them out of your system), then begin to make plans to make the next phase better, blessed, and productive.

you might have to do this a couple of times before you're able to completely move on. it's a process. it takes time but it's worth it and you'll be okay :grouphug3:

It depends. Sometimes talking to the said person is needed. Other times it's processing the chapter, making the proper summaries and moving on. Closure should be the final thing in situations which no longer serve you. Release and relax in this time.

Thanks ladies; I've since spoken to one of the people and it literally felt like a weight lifted off me. This particular person still doesn't quite understand why but I had to do it for me.
