Ladies,

On friday will be the fifth time I have gone to see my stylist. Thanks to you ladies I ditched my old stylish who was helping to ruin my hair.:eatme:

Anyway my hairdresser is great, BUT I know I have to go through the usual fight about??

Why I have waited so long to relax my hair?:poke: :arguing:

And then....I need a TRIM..Senerio. :swearing:  literally have to get really serious with her about not needing one

Waiting to see the progress that I have made over the past 12 weeks should be an exciting time. But my stylist really doesnt make it so memorable.

Anyone else know exactly what Senerio they will get into with their sytlist or is it just me.....Shall I find someone.
Its a sad state when u know more that the stylist

sounds like TWO stylist I went to prior to doing my own hair, both wanting to know why in the heck I waited sooo long, wanting to yank combs through my hair, overprocess it, and then trim it..... I just stopped going I was sick of having to defend my decisions for my hair everytime I stepped in the door.

I just dont what to do, chemical treatement( My relaxer) she is on point, never misses a step. Which is properly the most important and why I keep going back.

But I am becoming a little tired of defending my OWN  hair

I used to go thru this. I just held my ground. I would say no thank you to the trim and meant it. I said it like I meant it. When asked why I would sometimes say because I only have enough to pay for the touch up. That would ususally be enough.

The few times I had a stylist boldly insist I would just get up out of the chair, say never mind and go out the door. I don't need my hair done so badly that I will tolerate a "do what I say" attitude. I have realized the hard way that I would not accept this kind of behavior in any other setting so why should I when it comes to getting my hair done.

My current stylist I have been with for a while. She made the mistake of giving me a no lye relaxer when I specifically requested a lye. I got up and walked out of her salon with a wet head when I realized what she'd done. Oh and I didn't pay her either. It was a year before she could convince me to come back. I take my products (to include relaxers) with me when I come. She asks me do I want a trim every now and then but NEVER insists because she knows that approach does not work with me.

I say all this to say that you are paying your money for a service. A stylist can make a suggestion but once you say no that should be the end of it.

If we all (including myself) did that, stylists would have to treat us, their customers, better or just go out of business.

My stylist is the one who taught me about stretching. We see eye to eye on that issue. Trims are a whole other ball game. Each time I get a relaxer, I am excited to see my progress and she is ready to move in for the kill. I have been going to her for a long time and she knows how I feel about trims... when I feel that I need on I will let her do it. I think there will always be some type of struggle on this issue between us though.

With my last beautician it took a few times, I let her "trim" and she isn't scissor happy the first two times but after that whenever I came in I just told her. I don't want my hair cut.....and she stopped asking.

My new stylist doesn't do that but yea i used to feel really bad when my other stylists used to 'force' me to getting one. I wonder why they don't bother to show you the back of your hair and why they feel u need a trim. i'd be more willing to get one if u show me the back of my hair and some ragged edges...but if u ain't got proof, then i ain't taking their word for it...

I had a stylist that was very strong on the, "If you dont get a trim, your hair wont grow". She cut so much of my hair one day I wanted to cry, but that I was my fault for not speaking up. After that I only went to her for a wash, and then I would leave to let it air dry myself. She was also the same lady that put color in my hair, when she really didnt know what she was doing.

The stylist I go to now always ask if I want to get it cut. Before she even touches my head she asks what I want and how I want it. So I'm extremely glad of that.

Umm tell her once and thats it. The peopel at the drive thru dont badger you about supersizing and she shouldnt badger you about what you want to do. SimplyCee I woulda had to have a long chat with your stylist. What if you were alergic to nye?! She couldve really hurt you! Yall are paying fro a service, yall have to get real with the service providers. They are not the boss.
