I'm in the process of growing out my hair (asymmetrical bob shaved naped)and stretching my perm. Obviously the back is short right now I can't put it in a pony tail or much else. The last time I washed my hair (before buying new products). The short part was just thick and impossible to flat iron and just looked a bunch a new growth

For those who own these or something else
I'm just wondering which iron would be better to get my roots, and kitchen/newgrowth relaxer straight without using too much heat or without putting heat on my hair and it still looking the same?

I have both (FHI Platform and 1st & 2nd generation Maxiglide) and with the right technique, I get great results with both irons
Maxiglide Pros
- Pretty fast heat-up
- Leaves my hair feeling infused with moisture
- With the pins, I do not have chase my hair with a comb
- Steam does much of the work in getting the hair straight
- Interchangeable plates
Maxiglide Cons
- Quite heavy (but the steam and pins do much of the work so you don't flat iron as long)
- If not sufficently hot, water can leak from the reservoir
- Cleaning the plates can be a beast

FHI Pros
- Heats up very very fast
- Leaves hair with a lot shine
- Even for the 1 3/4" plate, its still quite light and maneuverable
- Results seem to last a little longer
-Easier to clean

FHI Cons
- No steam, requires more moisture prior to flat-ironing to prevent dryness
- No pins, have to chase with a comb which takes a more time
